Well the US government constantly talks about the gold as if it is all theirs. Also they have now been outright weaponising the dollar and all the global payment systems it controls against other countries including threatening their allies.
That said I think they only have to "justify", because they want to move the markets imo.

Like... Do you have a homelab with ssh access and bitwarden with ssh keys and nvpn setup and all of your servers running on a custom subnet etc.
I designed it for me, not for anyone who is using nvpn..
But I spent basically no time making a plugin, ensuring it themed properly, I didn't even ask for those shortcuts.

Coming from macos it's probably not anything special... Apart from the tiling desktop stuff.
I was already on Arch with gnome. I tried tiling plugins and then I even tried to follow a tutorial on setting up Hyprland and just gave up out of frustration.
I still have my old setup on a separate partition, but I've migrated everything over, continued projects, filed some taxes last week and didn't have to jump back to the old installation once. That's mad to me. Connected headphones, casted to TV, taken screenshots...
It works better than gnome IMO. I mean, I guess it's closer to a Linux distro like Ubuntu than what I had before: arch with gnome and everything installed by me. But theming works better, I set up some gestures like three finger swipe across workspaces too.
My laptop would often crash after memory pressure... Probably because I don't know how to set up swap memory properly, but here I have no issues.
I think the ctrl+k shortcut was the absolute key to this whole thing. I would have never learned the key commands without a tutorial mode there the whole time.
Let's fight fire with fire, let's promote and normalize privacy tech like coin joins.
We need to work on the narrative. We need an ad agency like Coinbase used to help remove the fear factor from privacy.

A tailscale-like setup using NVPN but with toggles so I can turn it on and off or restart it if it doesn't seem to be working.

Yeah, sort of. I'd use key splitting like seedXOR and Shamir's secret sharing scheme for distributed backups and recovery solutions.
Like as part of an inheritance thing where multiple people or locations can have part of the puzzle, so it is practically impossible to steal, but when your heir needs to use it, they do some treasure hunt and then never need to learn the nuances of collaborative signing or signing a transaction multiple times with different devices -- why force your inheritors straight into the deep end when they will probably just distribute funds to their own setups immediately anyway.
(Actually describing it as signing it multiple times sounds pretty good and easy to grasp).

Did you promote a liquid based wallet? Were any of them affected (e.g. wallet not working)
Isn't this the bitcoin that is owned by Liquid as collateral? No need to deal with customers directly, just find a way to return the collateral safely so that peg outs can work again no?

Its a compromise. You trust a nostr relay to keep something from others on your behalf.
Best case, you only auth on your own server. That is pretty good privacy.
Encryption is obviously the peak, but some things can't be encrypted: metadata, access logs, maybe private messages that can't be encrypted for some reason.
That's the stuff you want auth for.
To be fair, most nostriches treat a relay's ability to perform AUTH as a signal that it is trustworthy. We should probably use some other metric for trustworthiness and culturally make it popular.
The only thing you lose is the deniability that a nostr post was sent to a relay by its author.

I think that people who blindly recommend Multisig give it too much credit and possibly underestimate the security that a single private key already gives you.
It's not a silver bullet, it's a trade off. There are so many ways to take shortcuts like keeping all the keys together or not properly thinking about your realistic attack surfaces.
If you can do Multisig properly, you can probably do single sig properly with more ease.
Imo Multisig is for collaborative custody.

I tried to use it through nvpn as a tailscale like mesh network and between my private home server and my mobile phone, it just wouldn't connect.
My router doesn't allow any sort of port forwarding since they use GNAT so any port forwarding I do would open to another shared NAT that the ISP controls before the internet making it useless.
My phone doesn't port forward either obviously.
Not sure why holepunching is so hard, but I thought that was the whole point of FIPS, to "just work" like magic.
Or just in cyber space. (Bluetooth, satellite, Tor, all included)
The government should serve the people. The people should not be coerced to serve the government.
These policies are unlikely to be blatant theft, it's going to be things like we are going in the UK, changing tax treatment to encourage more investment ISAs instead of cash ISAs.
This is the government coercing people to take risks that they didn't want to.
I will preach that we need to invest instead of save because of inflation (another coercive tactic btw) but now people like my mum feel pressured to use stocks and shares ISAs and only because my dad is there to help, I don't worry, but I've seen her tendency to panic and leading her to stocks and shares would otherwise be like leading her to self custody with the coldcard with no explanation.
When we think this is all "because of the times" we accept it, but it is really "by design" and that's not acceptable.

I've been moving over my stuff from my old setup. AI has been suuuper helpful in so much of the process.
From helping me set up dual boot, then helping me set up disk decryption at boot time using their preferred bootloader. Then helping me evaluate everything installed and what I should remove. Then helping me reimplement their web application feature via Firefox instead of chrome. Then helping me move my projects over, then helping me get my ngit setup working better and pushing my code to it. Then moving over files and deduping it. And finally setting up stow for a dotfiles setup.
It had still taken me days, but some standouts from before:
I tried Hyprland before, it was a lot of work to set up and never felt polished. I've been using gnome. I used to often run out of memory running just AI and LibreWolf (many tabs and a few agents)
Currently, no memory issues doing what feels like more work 👌
I'm finally enjoying the tiled window manager and learning shortcuts.
Claude helped me set up sound tuning using tools in omarchy to get better sound than I had before despite no one still hasn't created a profile for my laptop (Lenovo X1 something)
Fingerprint login and sudo worked after enabling with little effort.
Biggest pet peeve: their screensaver will come on when playing a video. Idle detection prevention is broken (known issue)
I even managed to set up three finger swipe workspace switching.
Now that it's pretty perfect, let's see how long it lasts. Sometimes I feel like I'm just addicted to the tinkering 😂
But we all have short term memory. I doubt any of those past events really factored into this decision as much as recent events.
