‘Reverse-Engineer Anything’ Is the New Wild West of #AI
Even though there’s a risk of making myself unpopular again—or staying that way. I think it’s awesome!
Everyone’s hacking their devices. The only thing that sucks is that they’re using Claude and not open-source AI.
And all this whining now about how there’s suddenly bad, insecure software on IoT devices—that’s got to be the biggest joke in recent history.
Hack everything! Hack the world!
More anarchy for the masses!

Are there any insightful analyses of the Xi-Trump meeting yet?
So far, all I've heard is that Trump replaced Biden's portrait with a “paint-by-numbers” picture. You've got to have some fun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2dYbq3MBDg
I never thought I'd say this, but if the U.S. moves in the direction of Bernie Sanders, Chinese-AI (I already had a chat with local Deepseek about Mao) will win. What times we live in.
AI development isn’t going to slow down, even if it’s now called “super-duper intelligence.”
The people who are now claiming all over the internet that they don’t use AI are pretty silly. The only way to not use AI is to live in the woods without electricity.
Used correctly, AI is condensed knowledge. The fight against knowledge seems a bit anachronistic… a bit.

To understand things, it’s usually not enough to look only at the “official” history. That’s the history of the winners—or those who consider themselves to be winners. It’s much more important to look at the fringes, the radicals, and the nonconformists. To understand the U.S., it’s certainly helpful to have read people like Noam Chomsky, but it gets really interesting with such enigmatic figures as Saul Alinsky.
Demonized and idolized by both the right and the left. Reviled as a communist, a Christian, a Satanist, and a traitor to his own country.
His writings were far more influential than one might think—from the Tea Party to the Occupy movement. Hillary Clinton, Obama, and the Alt-Right all draw on his ideas. He’s something like Gramsci in Europe. A radical leftist who was studied in depth by the radical right. He writes it himself in the preface to Rules for Radicals: “the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom—Lucifer”
How should one confront the devil? We need the light, but darkness arises from it as well. Emancipatory movements that oppress the world. Oppressors who liberate the world. Good, evil—none of these are standards for understanding anything.
I think we need a new metaphysics, a new radical dialectic, a completely new understanding of a globalized, networked mass society.
Most likely, as always, it will boil down to a new religion—a new dark age. We can still do something. We can still think differently… let’s give it a try.

The system works for them.
And it always has. We warned you time and time again. You had your bullshit excuses. No one cared about the suffering and despair in the world. People tried “green capitalism” or “social imperialism.” All just excuses. It was so comfortable. Even in your own affluent countries, there was nothing but hatred and racism. Then people said it was the working class’s fault—that they were doing it wrong and were to blame.
Excuses, nothing but excuses. You knew exactly what was going on; you were told a thousand times. Every child who dies is another nail in the coffin of this degenerate system. Die. We simply don’t deserve anything better.

Punk’s not dead!
Punk is dead. The underground has gone under. Again.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUU5B1uE1Ps
As has so often been the case, people today don’t even want to utter the word “punk” anymore. It seems to stand for commercialism, mass festivals, and political ideologues of every stripe. Government officials stand in front of anarchist graffiti and tell us that we simply have to obey the state. “Punk” bands are proud to have tens of thousands of Instagram followers. A concert featuring “underground” bands can easily cost €28. What today’s punks absolutely must avoid is thinking for themselves, building their own structures, and swimming against the current.
But the fact is that in times of enormous upheaval—the rise of global AI structures and widespread digitalization—the crazy ones, the misfits, and the rebels are more needed than ever before. Punk is the order of the day. We’re currently witnessing dystopian developments that scare everyone. Power and knowledge are concentrated in the hands of a few U.S. tech-bro companies. Surveillance, manipulation, and war. The only ones who have an alternative vision are the Chinese. It cannot be the goal to choose between China and the U.S.
We must empower ourselves, and the long tradition of DIY underground culture can really help us with that. Help us be ourselves again, help us take matters back into our own hands. I’ve always been at home in both fields. I run a DIY music label and create music and art myself as freely as possible. But I’ve been just as committed for nearly as long to free software and digital structures that belong to us. (https://undeadnetwork.de/bookstack/books/radical-enlightenment-a-world-of-open-sources-translation)
If we reflect on our strengths and don’t just reject everything out of sheer fear, then we can seize world domination. Just as we’ve always done. Do It Yourself—PUNKS NOT DEAD!

And because they're afraid of China. That completely paralyzes them. So stupid. The world is going to use these models. I don't know what will become of Europe. It doesn't look so good.

2026-09-10 09:34:20 UTC

Life punishes those who are late.
What really bothers me: Isn’t there anyone in Germany or the EU who’s grappling with this emerging, AI-driven world? All you hear are these “doomsday” apocalyptic warnings. Meanwhile, things are evolving rapidly in two directions. On the one hand, there’s the U.S. military-industrial complex with its surveillance, war, and the most brutal genocide; and on the other, there’s the open-source wave triggered by China that’s sweeping across the entire world.
You’d have to be a terrible anti-communist racist not to see which side you should be on. It’s absolutely disastrous to just wait and see whether you’d prefer apple or lemon flavor. This is a decision that will change and influence our future—perhaps our entire civilization.
People realize this, of course. There’s a kind of pathological apathy that arises from the fact that there’s no meaningful vision for the future. China has that. Chinese universities are developing new drugs and technologies. Work is becoming easier. Dark factories build things without human intervention. There’s also a counter-movement to AI in China, but not out of fear—rather, to create or preserve analog spaces. Hence the artists’ villages and the famous bookstores. Beautiful, liberating places without AI. But not out of fear or desperation—rather, because it’s possible, because everyday life is becoming simpler.
China is at least 20 years ahead of us. And the “West” stands there as what it is: a bloodthirsty war monster and child murderer.

DeepSeek has done it again. Liang Wenfeng, the founder and young visionary behind DeepSeek, spoke about his goals this year in a 4-hour talk. It’s by no means the case that Chinese society as a whole immediately recognized that open source is the future and is changing the world—but Wenfeng certainly did. Wenfeng himself comes from the international OSS scene and decided in 2025 to release the first DeepSeek model as open source—and later as open weight. This sparked a global craze and a surge in AI self-hosting, and within a very short time, an OSS ecosystem developed that is both fascinating and frightening. Now, with DeepSeek Haress, DeepSeek is taking it one step further and creating a platform that is customizable and extremely object-oriented. The slogan is: “Everything is a plugin.” And that’s exactly how it is. In just a few minutes, you can build a system that suits your needs.
Sorry, #Anthropic and #OpenAI. You’re screwed. If I’d invested trillions of U.S. dollars in this nonsense, I’d be worried. But no sane person would do something like that. Long live the world of open source. (If only someone had said that sooner!) #AI #oss #opensource #openweight #harness #deepseek #liangwenfeng #china #us #eu

China’s rise, Europe’s decline and Bernie Sanders’ dark hour.
https://spora.undeadnetwork.de/uploads/images/scaled_full_358e1bf5a18373a42ed6.webp
Bernie Sanders really laid it on thick this week: AI is dangerous, AI brings illness and death, AI must be regulated – and by, er, the US! Who else, for that matter? The EU might be an option, but they’re getting new fax machines this week, so there’s not much time left!
What Bernie – and, in fact, the entire so-called ‘West’ – is overlooking is this: AI is already here. The US model of privatising humanity’s knowledge and selling it back to people at a premium via a handful of public limited companies has failed. Everyone has missed the Deepseek moment. Whether out of colonial arrogance, fear or simply a lack of critical thinking: to this day, the actual neural revolution is being completely overlooked.
Deepseek: for those who don’t know, this is the first Chinese AI model to have been made available completely free of charge and as open source for the whole of humanity. A step of unprecedented magnitude. The next ‘Sputnik moment’ then came last month with the release of Kimi K3. Kimi K3 is arguably the most powerful software ever created. It is a so-called ‘frontier’ model, meaning it is on a par with the US’s triple-trillion models, only it is out in the wild.
We need to realise what this means. Everyone – and I mean everyone – has free access to the cutting-edge technology of our time. This represents a democratisation of AI technology on an unprecedented scale. Xi Jinping made this clear in July in his brief but substantial speech at the AI Summit in Shanghai. In the very first principle, the ‘Principle of Openness’, Xi made the following remarkable statement: ‘We should seize this rare, historic opportunity to promote open source.’ Since then, with Kimi K3 and Gwen 3.7 – and all those yet to come – the world has had access to the entirety of human knowledge in condensed form.
But this also means that regions such as Western Europe can no longer afford to wait. Defending digital infrastructure alone will soon be impossible without AI support. With the nationalisation of the AI industry under Trump, the US is no longer an option for Europe. Through WAICO, China, Russia and the BRICS nations are rolling out this knowledge across the globe. I bet they must be laughing out loud at times; I’d be doing the same in their shoes.
Just to give a few recent examples. A few weeks ago, China launched a global simulation. Due to sanctions imposed by the US government, China was forced to develop highly efficient AI models. Thanks to its open-source nature, this technology can also be applied in other fields. A simulation involving 1 billion agents was launched. Each agent corresponded to a human being with emotions, desires, flaws and so on. The first tests were the usual game theory tests, but as early as the second run, the spread of information amongst the global population was simulated. What this means for someone who cannot access this knowledge remains to be seen in the (European) future.
A second example, which is of great relevance to Germany, is car manufacturing. Modern cars are built with aluminium frames. This is a technically demanding process, as aluminium cannot be cast. The individual parts must be skilfully welded together. Using AI technology, China has discovered an aluminium alloy that can, in fact, be cast. This means: everything is made from a single ‘cast’, with no weld seams; the manufacturing process is simple and low-cost, and the structure of the frame can be adapted to the actual loads it will bear. A giant leap forward. And Germany simply cannot do it.
And, in fact, similar and even more impressive reports are coming in on a daily basis. WAICO is set to roll this out across the Global South. And, secretly, I hope that Europe carries on sleeping and ends up footing the bill. 500 years of colonisation – that adds up to quite a lot.
For my part, I’ll carry on running Chinese AI systems locally; so far, they’ve been quite friendly! Overtaking without catching up (I’m laughing my head off).

You’re absolutely right about that. That’s why I’m saying it’s propaganda, not a solution.

2026-07-08 08:49:20 UTC

My much-acclaimed essay “Radical Enlightenment – A World of Open Sources”
(or ‘Manifesto’ – it sounds a bit cooler, doesn’t it?) is mainly about the disclosure of sources and the truly explosive possibilities this opens up (see Fedivers as ‘propaganda by deed’).
Some sections also discuss privacy as a cornerstone of an emancipated, enlightened society.

The Reclaiming of Privacy
In his Social Contract, Kant divides reason into private and public reason. Private reason is the kind of reason we can apply in our ‘official capacity’, that is, a reason subject to strict limitations, compliance with which is necessary for the smooth functioning of society. Public reason, on the other hand, is that of the ‘scholar’. According to Kant, this should be free and permitted to question and express everything.
Alongside reason in the public sphere, there is also a realm of absolute privacy: the realm of the family, friends or one’s own self. In antiquity, this was called the oikos, the household. As long as this sphere does not encroach upon the public sphere – that is, does not, for example, break any universally applicable laws – everything is permitted there and is dealt with within the oikos itself. It is no coincidence that sexuality and other matters that would cause a ‘public nuisance’ are situated there.
But what happens in a digital society where these centuries-old boundaries between these spheres have dissolved practically overnight? This dissolution occurs, on the one hand, through constant self-publication in real time on so-called ‘social media’. And on the other hand – and far more seriously – through the technically feasible and actually occurring total surveillance and recording of all events taking place in the digital space.
As we find ourselves in a fully digitalised world, all areas of life are reflected there. It makes no difference whether this concerns the private sphere of the oikos or the public consideration of a social problem. If, therefore, everything becomes public and – as everyone knows today(5) – is permanently recorded, this signifies the complete abolition of privacy, of the private sphere, of the oikos.
This is disastrous. Whilst public and private reason must simply be renegotiated – as has always been the case – the loss of privacy marks a turning point in human history and was, until then, regarded as an instrument of torture in the panopticon of penal institutions and prisons.
Privacy and the private sphere, however, are inextricably linked to social and individual freedom, as well as to a life of human dignity in general. The reclaiming of privacy is thus the decisive struggle at the dawn of an all-encompassing digitalisation that leaves no room for the analogue world.
But how can this be achieved? In the field of software security, there is the concept of the militarised and demilitarised domains. It is assumed that every device and every programme connected to the global network is constantly under attack, being scanned, compromised and manipulated (or can be). Everything that happens on the internet, in the digital realm, therefore takes place within the militarised zone and, by definition, is subject to constant attack.
The answer to how privacy can be established in the digital realm, then, logically comes from the military tradition. It is cryptography. Ever since the dawn of military conflict, humankind has sought to alter important messages in such a way that the enemy cannot decipher them.
Since, on the internet, virtually everything can potentially be controlled by the ‘enemy’ (in this case, the enemy of privacy), it is therefore urgently necessary that everything that is private – however uninteresting or trivial it may be – must be encrypted and cryptographically secured. Establishing comprehensive cryptography for the private sphere is thus one of humanity’s most important tasks in this new era.
Alongside the challenge of raising public awareness of this and putting it into practice, one of the greatest difficulties lies in the fact that cryptographic tools are required for encryption and decryption. These cannot be controlled by individuals or groups, but must be free and available as open source. The cryptographic tool itself must therefore contain no secrets. The secret used for encryption – the key – must be held by the individual, just like a key used to lock the front door before engaging in private activities.
