Considering tax 'authorities' are building profiles of people and one of the red flags for an audit is frequent lavish holidays in relation to what they have written on their tax return, it seems like a sensible thing to do. Sure they might know you have left the country, but they wouldn't be able to work out how much you spent on a hotel without some more serious detective work which they aren't likely to do.

If it's still hot and off gassing get a fine rose watering can and dilute some of the EM in dechlorinated water and pour that on it. It basically helps make it all more digestable for the plants.

Yeah I suspect grafting although in most years produces perfectly good fruit isn't quite a good under extreme pressure such as this drought as for example a fruit from seed.
There is a pear tree here from seed that had some potential phytophora issues and half the bark died and I nearly chopped it down but despite the bark it's looking pretty good compared to the rest of the pear trees here. Apart from that tiny comparison I have noticed all the wild hedge row fruit doing far better than grafted and even long established transplanted plants this year. Wild blackberries are doing well compared to the cultivated ones I have.

2026-08-24 07:24:37 UTC

- reply

Yeah it's the drought, you don't want to see my shriveled plums, at least they didn't all drop off 😂. The sugar levels will be high on the ones that are good though.
It could be root stock but yes young plum trees especially the more wild ones have a habit of being surprisingly spikey when young. I have about 2-3 young spikey plum trees growing around the mother tree here that I need to get out in the dormant season.

The nearest we had was probably like when the Irish came in large numbers in the past.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chirality
What you your intuiting/sensing is correct
Natural and synthetically made chemicals aren't 'the same' despite being having the same components and relationships the difference is due to chirality.
For whatever reason it's rarely discussed unless you are a chemist and I only know about it as my dad did a degree in chemistry.
Nature seems to produce homochirality aka spins in one direction. Synthetic molecule creation produces a 50/50 split in either direction. Imagine these molecule coming into contact with proteins in a living system like your self or a plant and you can start to see why the effects are different.

It sounds like you did. Nearly all of the time you leave coffee and don't inoculate it with something else it starts to turn green and that's trichoderma.
I used to grow mushrooms with coffee grounds and even if your carefully it can still turn up and ruin a batch. Anything organic I just throw it outside to decompose.
It was clearly ruining my mushroom growing but it didn't realise it was making the garden super resilient to disease at the time 😁
