I'm obviously a big advocate of relay browsing for content discovery 😅 that's always my recommendation... and for the flipside, of publishing that way, as well, lest everything just stays a big soupy mess. So many relays stream and blast with total disregard to where the content may best be suitable, I guess for the sake of being known as a "busy" relay or perhaps in the overzealous spirit of redundancy. That's a gravity that my recommendation consistently has to battle against, but...

Any client that enables you to visit different places over a closed set of fixed places is an improvement over a client that does not. Trending style feeds chosen or operated by the client are basically single-place perspectives (of maybe a set of relays at best), and pre-selected follow suggestions are (mostly) an extension of that. It's a starting point, but that method ultimately leads to the same outcome for the user, regardless of the "big" topic. That topic just so happens to be bitcoin. It could be circus elephants and it would end up just the same.

Now, if a user starts out in a client that offers diverse relay feeds to browse, (maybe some are of the trending type, maybe some are not), they're more easily able to discover niche interests, less celebrity, more normal people, the cool thing no one is talk about, etc, then, it becomes a little easier to navigate towards their own interests and they can start building a relatable follow feed. They can figure out where they want to publish their own content to start assimilating into a community (in the purest meaning of the word). They can avoid groups and topics they dislike. I could go on...

There's still a lot to be done to expand the ecosystem on the relay side, but it's just a matter of finding and teaching motivated individuals... which is happening.
