Kicking that off now. Will report back
Just a:

If you force your computer to do a WoT instead of the relay and make that your price of admission... i guess that does count as a PoWoT
The David lynch videos were on particular days eg 23rd of January so it should be posted on that day
Who ever makes this bot is guaranteed to generate AT LEAST 500 bitcoin in the first year
We need to get you off of YouTube ads lol.
Havent you got an adblocker or brave browsers. Or newpipe if (android) phone?
I suppose you wouldnt have experienced this happy synchronicity tho:)
Seems pretty counter productive
I just wanted to say PoWoT tbh

Why would a business pay for a relay either? That doesn't make sense either. If they can write to nos.lol for free.
I heard there is some AI bot out there that was bought by a multi-million dollar company and that bot "uses Nostr" in the sense that it blasters notes to a hundred free and public relays.
To some people Nostr is defined as a collection of free servers anyone can write anything to, as long as that anything is formatted as a weird JSON string with a meaningless signature.
Newlay spiders outward, with a greedy set cover, calculating WOT periodically with a self contained graperank algo.. Mine does about 77 connections on average and misses *nothing.
Nobody pays for relays because there are free and public relays available. Why would anyone pay to write to a random relay if they can get the same benefit for free?
I wouldn't mind having an ecosystem only with relays that you have to be invited to, or pay, or do some other thing to prove you're worth writing to that. It would make everything much more interesting.
But if someone is willing to keep running nos.lol for free forever then just use that.
There are other reasons to pay for relays (to make and read good relay feeds, to have clean inboxes and provide clean threads to people who read your content, to be part of a high-signal relay for people who pay), but not many people are aware of these cool possibilities.
Even then, at the current Nostr size, we can easily just run on some cheap whitelisted relays and everybody should still be able to talk freely.
I reckon it will generate more revenue than the cost of setting it up. In fact a guarantee it lol
I am still begging someone to make this a bit lol
Wouldn't this be solved by PoW? (I know nothing).
Or a combination? PoWoT
I think the issue is not with the WoT, although it might be a little bit of that too. But with the fact that it opens a bunch of connections to a bunch of relays and keeps those open ingesting tons of events every second. It's like a big Primal server on its own, and maybe my libraries are not very well-optimized for that.
I think that approach is bad and shouldn't be encouraged. What is the size of the database? Must be huge at this point.
Do you really want to ingest millions of events from people who don't even know your relay exists? If not, then I may offer you an alternative solution.
If yes, then I can think of some changes that would save some CPU, but I don't want to work on that and there are probably better solutions out there built by robots.
Instead of pushing big relays, make it easier for individuals to run their own on hardware they already have. Nostr-relay-tray is a sadly ignored project. Let the big relays, and the clients that require them die.

And Ryan we need to get this down to 25¢
Derek we need to lower those costs ASAP!!!!
Sorry, I thought you were referencing your work relay.
My Haven is a small part of the use case for a VPS I pay $25 a year for 🤷♂️
Are you flirting with me?🙂↔️
No one even talks about nip05 any more. Which is good cos imagine having to explain nip05 to someone
It's also not under my control.
Yah, guess who made the most off nip05 shilling.. 👻🙀
My Haven relay costs me $25/year, and I use the VPS for various other things too.
We need to have an intervention on Derek's outgoings
Its existed on relay.tools for a LONG time. What you need to provide is personalize WOT. Not just yours.. Then maybe.
I run more than 50 relays plus a bunch of other things for $5/mo. That gives us $0.10 per relay.
@npub1l2v…ajft left us too BTW. And all his projects in the red. Whatever, ignore the truth at ur ignorance. He said it himself.
#nevent1q…ufyg
You were there when @npub1l2v…ajft said relays only run to meet demand. And there is none. Do what you want, I learned my lesson already.
Every single charity begging relay has died. Remember relayable? Yeah, it got shilled and charity'd way more than any relay I ever ran. And guess who's still online. 😘

Yes, this is a strength, albeit accidental

What happens when the relays die? 👀
Ya, it's tru doh.

"Do you use social media?"
"No, I use Nostr."
Let it die. Nobody pays for relay unless they're a business. And then, that business needs a reason to run besides charity imho
The bun is so important for a great burger!
I think it's important to call out these points of disinteroperability, so we can find ways to work with each other. I also think it's important and necessary to recognize that all developers have the capacity to do what they want.
The most one can do is form coalitions with other developers and relay operators around standards.
A Buzz ecosystem at worst interoperability is a 1 relay 1 client space that bother's no one, with free exit afforded by the mechanics of having an npub.
I'm starting to understand that the capacity for allow individuals to refuse coordination is what makes nostr strong because there's no authority mandating a single frame, which is problematic when an organization with a lot of power and influence comes in an forces a change on the whole protocol that everyone must conform to.
That's the playbook for how protocols die, when a single authority enters the space (embrace) forces change through carrying influence (extend) and eventually moves the protocol to only use proprietary technology to work with everything else (extinguish).
@nprofile…7nrg is also working on making buzz more general-nostr friendly🙏so that's another route for interop.
People have been saying this for years now. But nostr-only is as close to being off social media as possible beaides actually being off social media completely.
It's boring.
There are only 2 topics (3 at a stretch).
There are 4 of us (24 at stretch).
There are no girls here (1 of them at a stretch).
It's the gateway drug to zero social media
Is this a normal price for running a relay?
What is the cheapest relay running costs on nostr? #asknostr
I knew he was a special boy 😂
The stupid world overlords have been moving the world out of the text paradigm and into retarded media like videos for a long time. The LLM revolution has served to fix that at least.
Did you consider the Naughty Nerds as a name? But it's a bit too kinky or something
I'm going to give this to you only because you can beat me up
