Lemme guess, we eventually find that the logical conclusion to all this, the way to achieve the greatest satisfaction for the greatest number, the minimal suffering, the maximal freedom, minimal offense... is for everyone to run their own relay for their own notes, use outbox, and remain vigilant in curating their own feeds.

Why should we feel more vulnerable to the emotions that we all share than we do in ridicule? What left us comfortable with foolishness, but in fear of exposing the raw and tender nerves of hurt? Were we more able to feel than those we trusted? Could they have learned had they let anyone but themselves set the tone? This thing is solid and really working well now. Almost all of the expected client features are here and are well tested: Threads, Reactions, Multi-Column, Lists(-as-corkboards), Zaps, Pins, Filters, Account Switching, Light/Dark Mode, Relay Options, Profile Edit, Autofetch timeline, Discover, Saved Notes ... and a few novel features too, on web and desktop/linux.

- Linux Desktop: Shuffling sound still inconsistent over bluetooth. Works then doesn't when sound plays elsewhere on system.

The problem is in the absolute word 'solely'.
It doesn't matter whether there is revenue, it matters whether the existence of that revenue changes decisions, whether concessions are made to increase it, and whether the source of the revenue dictates the content.
There are people for whom the revenue is not primary, and there are people who would continue doing what they do for less than what they earn, and people who will change of it means more revenue.

Correct and that's okay. Less than five percent of artists are truly original, and most of those, most people don't like particularly much (zappa, devo, dylan). There is a cynical portion of the major music industry that simply copy paste changes one track from an existing hit. But more often the actual talent is siphoned from the cheapest end of the pool and made material by a machine aimed at upper middle class teenagers' allowances based on lowest common denominator marketing. Then they use copyright trolling and calcified industry-centric assumptions as propaganda to blame 'musicians' for 'copying' when they sample, cover, or tribute. All of the blues and country, most of hip hop, most of EDM, blues rock and folk rock of the sixties, jazz, they all borrow from who came before - so much so they would not exist of youtube's copyright standards were applied. And there is a limited set of enjoyable scales/chords in existence. That said, I would agree in that too often the musicians and producers of record are not original enough, are to risk averse, or are rationally aware of the unsustainability and lack of reward for original music. And it is too easy to play very simple music of a style and appear as idol to unsophisticated masses (bluegrass, rap, death metal, punk, electronic). Even then, even though it only becomes harder to be truly original over time, there is truly great music in all of those categories. I lament to an extent the predictable rise and fall of fads, and the relatively unmeritoctatic industry. There's plenty of talent and originality out there among creators, but it is the one percent of consumers who seek it out, and therefore typically a hobby without years of careful market cultivation. And the truth is that the masses buy covers and retreads! The masses appreciate understandable rhythym and melody and starpower far more than originality. And, when someone has it all, half the masses hate them (beatles, elvis, tswift). But I am careful not to point ire at the creators - they rarely are the source of the plagiaristic conduct, and when they are, they will only be the popular targets for criticism if they also cross the industry powers. Thanks for the space to rant lol, it's not really at you Karnage, I bet we agree on almost all of this. I do agree music and musicians and particular studios get stuck. The west is stuck in multiple ways, including the guitar/bass/drums paradigm.
