Business idea that I’m working on:
Home appliances that are as analog as possible while being efficient.
My washing machine doesn’t need wi-fi.
My stove doesn’t require a subscription.
My fridge doesn’t need to have a screen shoving ads in my face.
And all of them should be trivially repairable.
I know there are enough people who have guns pointed at their printers in case the printer develops an attitude; I’m certain there are people who would go for this.

Be the person you needed when you needed someone most.
Because out there is someone else who needs someone like that too.

isn’t it amazing how much helping another can recharge one’s batteries?

#enshittification sends a vulnerable person inpatient.
Turns out her “smart” fridge displayed an ad for the Apple TV show “#Pluribus.”
The ad said, “We’re sorry we upset you, Carol.”
Unfortunately, this woman, also named Carol, thought she was experiencing a psychotic break.

Ten years ago, this condition was still regularly ridiculed and treated as a joke.
Five years ago, the idea of the condition being anything other than a dx of exclusion was not even considered.
Now we have a blood test for it.

I hate being right.
#LibraryRedert was an effort to protect works regarding trans folks and transition.
Now, Trump is actively ordering their destruction.
Regardless of the legality of the order, there will be people who comply.
And this was all foreseen because it’s all happened before.

it’s astonishing how many of us in our mid life have figured out that we need to pursue more humanistic pursuits.

When courts chastise lawyers and litigants for bogus citations that clog the legal system, when recipes generated are poison, when books and articles they bullshit about lead to irrationally angry people, when people try to shortcut spirituality by using these services, when search engines are poisoned by countless slop pages…
Fighting the jerks spewing feces on a fan is harder than cleaning up a room contaminated by someone who engages in that actual practice.

I don’t care how many showers or whatever using LLM GAIs “costs”; they are destructive to humanity.

I am struggling to not Freeze and Faint.
I am getting things done, a bag at a time.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how many of us find a path towards the spiritual, particularly paths outside organized religion.

Like I said, that would be only for catastrophic failure.
And yeah, there would be at least one window cracked enough to vent the space.

There used to be a backup, a cast iron wood burning stove kept part of the place warm, but between how heavy that thing is and the lack of safe venting, it’s no longer an option.
Currently thinking of making a hobo stove as a catastrophic backup heat source but burning things inside is a dangerous idea.

It’s definitely different living without central heating.
Our bedroom is heated with a heat pump.
We also have one functional sealed oil heater that moves between our bedroom (mostly to dry clothes since the rain has been too frequent to line dry), the bathroom (helps evaporate moisture when we shower), and the greenhouse (freezing plants are dead plants).
We’re not sure what our play is should we lose power. That’s our anxiety since the current indoor temp outside our bedroom is <12.8°C.

Moving is the third most stressful life event, only behind losing a spouse or a child.
No wonder I’m feeling like I’m falling apart.

If you’re in #BC, don’t forget to vote on Saturday if you haven’t already cast your ballot by mail or at early voting.
And to the 1M plus out there who already cast a ballot at early voting.. ok wow 28% of all eligible voters have made their mark.

I interact with a fair few folks who, shall we say, aren’t fully grounded in reality. I’m constantly shocked by how bright their insights almost are, only for them to short circuit away from the actual negative source powering the issue.

You are valued.
You are loved.
And you are worthy of love.
You’re human. That’s the only justification necessary.
