It does one thing perfectly which is bare the truth.
NOSTR getting compared to daily active users or in similar terms of digital adoption success, is directly proportional to how many people do the work to find truth vs want to be entertained.
The dominant medium of a culture acts as a metaphor for how the truth is established. In other words, what’s entertaining is true. So short form videos is what is truth for the masses.
It’s best to think of NOSTR as a weapon when needed for those that actually have any courage to stand up.
I personally don’t mind if another soul joins NOSTR. I like that the people here care about that and what I say can’t be fucked with.

Moment to moment, it turns out, is not God’s conception, or nature’s. It is man conversing with himself about and through a piece of machinery he created.
In Mumford’s great book Technics and Civilization, he shows how, beginning in the fourteenth century, the clock made us into time-keepers, and then time-savers, and now time-servers. In the process, we have learned irreverence toward the sun and the seasons, for in a world made up of seconds and minutes, the authority of nature is superseded. Indeed, as Mumford points out, with the invention of the clock, Eternity ceased to serve as the measure and focus of human events.
And thus, though few would have imagined the connection, the inexorable ticking of the clock may have had more to do with the weakening of God’s supremacy than all the treatises produced by the philosophers of the Enlightenment; that is to say, the clock introduced a new form of conversation between man and God, in which God appears to have been the loser.
Perhaps Moses should have included another Commandment: Thou shalt not make mechanical representations of time.

There doesn’t seem to be sustainable long term differentiation among the models.
So gaining margin above the cost to compute is difficult. People will move to the lowest cost provider.
Add to this the open source threat and marketplaces arbitraging tokens.
AI utility is not going anywhere but not being able to produce sustainable net income seems to be the bubble if there is one.

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
The World is bereft of journalistic integrity while curiosity is being intentionally programmed out of us.
SOLUTION
These are solvable problems through long-tail curiosity of the people.
Long-tail curiosity is what will lead to the revolution of Journalism.
Curiosity destroys accreditation when solution oriented.
WHY DYSTIL
It's personal.
I was called a conspiracy theorist, low moral character, treasonous and a tin foil hat guy by the family and friends closest to me just for being curious.
My answer was sending multiple links over text messages. This does not work.
It felt like the worse plot line in a movie where courage and speaking up gets the crazy label.
And when my mom had a heart attack, the doctor's single and most important advice was simply "salt makes blood pressure go up," and she walked out of the hospital with prescriptions for 6 meds, including multiple statins.
Luckily on a follow up visit, I had a cholesterol project in Dystil with the statin study to reference. Three doctors stood down and had no idea what the source was for statin research on efficacy. They were challenged one time with credible resources and agreed to take her meds down to one single blood thinner.
Fuckn dorks.
The media is beyond compromised.
There is no justice anywhere.
There is no journalistic integrity anymore, and no business model that rewards curiosity. Only derision.
I spoke up against DEI, COVID, money printing, Epstein, corruption, Jan 6, and just about anything else you can think of.
Most of the world seems fundamentally incurious and afraid of thinking.
People don't read, ask questions, are terrified to change their minds, and would rather find an instagram tribe that corroborates their moral high-ground defense and call you names rather than ask a simple question or have a face-to-face conversation.
Critical thinking is fucked.
Wisdom is fucked.
Retention of knowledge is fucked.
Communication is fucked.
Sovereignty is fucked.
Charlie Kirk was killed for words.
Surveillance and divisiveness are at an all-time high, and the powers that be laugh while we devolve into apes for their profit.
Most of them are clearly aligning with the Sam Altmans and Palantirs of the world.
And on top of all this, nobody's laughing anymore. We take ourselves more seriously than the problems. Needing to be right so bad instead of being curious distances us even further.
We should be spending more time with family, kids, touching grass and bangin. There's no sense of peace when you are having to fight all battles on all fronts out of necessity.
And for about 5 years, I'd been non stop thinking about a product that answered, "what do I do with all of my bookmarks?
WHAT IS DYSTIL
Dystil treats your bookmarks and your curiosity like a company.
A bookmark can be a social post, a website, a newsletter, an email, a podcast, a video, or an idea. We view these bookmarks like gold as the most unique digital signature of curiosity.
Dystil augments these bookmarks with additional research, resources, customizable agents, and tools to go deeper into curiosity.
The end state of a bookmark in Dystil is something we call a Dystillation: a public-facing, well-resourced thought on a subject or just a topic that your interested in knowing more about.

WHY DOES IT WORK?
Retention of information doesn't happen unless you start with what you actually find interesting.
Reintroducing your curiosity to you consistently is what is missing from the bookmark problem.
Collaboration with humans towards a solution is what is missing from the bookmark problem.
Social feeds that compete with where your bookmark are housed is what is missing from the bookmark problem.
We fixed that.
Reading, writing and thinking are all interchangeable words that mean the same thing.
Until you can present something simply, you don't understand it yourself.
Dystil makes these presentations seamless because it starts with what you're already uniquely curious about.
You can follow the best curators of topics that you care about but don't feel like doing the ongoing necessary digging on things like quantum threats to Bitcoin.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you bookmark something, it becomes searchable, "chattable," and easily sorted into a collection if you want. We call those collections, "projects". Invite anyone to a project and your immediately adding an important context for retention of information: Other humans.
Connect a source like Nostr or Twitter (you should still creep on twitter for bookmarks and debates in our view) to ingest all of your bookmarks at once, or add them manually. The next step is to generate a spark, which enhances the bookmark into a presentation-ready state. Think of a spark as a button that opens the rabbit hole and lets you go deeper.

WHAT'S THE CATCH? HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? AND DO YOU TAKE BITCOIN?
It is not open source. We'd like to consistently move that way every chance we get while still being profitable.
We've gotten our costs down to the cost of compute, and we'd like to take single sats above that cost each time one of our functions is used. The main function you'll use and pay for now is when AI-assisted research is used. You can select your own models or use the defaults.

We're trying to price to value while making sure your curiosity library is always free, always yours and your wisdom can be passed on before the book burning starts.
You can top up your account with fiat or Lightning. And if you never top up, you can still use Dystil as a searchable library of your curiosity organized far better than it ever would be sitting in a bookmarks folder on a social platform you don't own.
WHAT TYPE FEEDBACK IS MOST HELPFUL TO US?
1. The follower, profile and sharing functions of social are items that help with network effects but we have not figured out the perfect logic tree that enables the network effect defensibility. Why this matters the most is because when your curiosity is a flex like an instagram following is, we can give recognition and clout for how you think.
2. Testimonials on specific use cases that you love.
3. What sucks, what's broken, how to simplify and what doesn't make sense.
4. There are placeholders for concepts we think are important to get to the source of truth but are not yet fully developed like "accuracy rating". We don't yet know the best way to handle confidence of how to verify truth. Ideas on how to think about this would be great.

Heartbreak comes in all shapes and sizes.
It comes from different angles, people and when you least expect it.
When it comes for you, you must never entertain a victim mindset.
Grief is from a beautiful empty space once occupied by a beautiful soul.
A victim mindset not only robs your heart from the truth but it is the slipperiest slope that there is.
To avoid the slope you must only engage in gratitude. Immediately. Daily. Multiple times per day.
And every single time the temptation for victimhood presents itself.
The only thing close to a hack on heartbreak is to go directly head first into the storm.
Headfirst into the storm means finding the most responsibility you can find and to even get creative on ways to find more accountability. And doing so with gratitude.
Accountability hurts the most.
Accountability IS the storm.
If you do anything but go head first into the storm, you are robbing your future from an authentically euphoric peace that will come.
The hardest part of heartbreak is going headfirst into what makes you unattractive.
Much like when you forgive someone genuinely and you are awarded with the feeling of peace, strength, confidence, and love… when you commit to what you got wrong, there will be a physical sensation of these feelings one day but only if you go head first into the pain now.
Head first feels like your heart is burning you, stabbing you and betraying you.
This is how the storm feels for now and what you need to do that gets you to the bottom as fast as possible.
It seems antithetical but you need to find the bottom as fast as possible and piling on yourself for what you got wrong is how you get there.
You must sprint to the bottom. Anything less than that is stealing from your future. Seek the bottom. Don’t pretend you found it or lie to yourself about it but look into it head on until you feels this type of sensation where you wonder if your life is worth living.
This is where you fill find God.
God is easy to find and the bottom when you realize he is a mirror sometimes.
You have to look into the mirror and take as much ownership as possible because it will start to illuminate the new routine and habits that will make you unrecognizable.
Be not afraid. It is true that no one is coming to save you because he already did.
You have to be smart enough to cash in this lottery ticket. Someone loves you enough to have died for you already. Remember this as often as you need to with the most gratitude that you have to give.
This is the realization that the bottom will give you. But you can’t copy and paste here you cannot take short cuts here you have to get there yourself as fast as possible.
The bottom is where you will find gratitude’s dry tinder. And you will need no more kindling to create an internal flame for a daily gratitude practice.
Be not afraid. Your canvas has been wiped clean while you are the close enough in proximity to the draft off of the Creator himself.
Be not afraid. Weakness leaving your body is just a perverted familiarity and contentment with bad habits. Weak habits of short cuts where you get away with lying to yourself because you have no accountability.
Be not afraid. The feeling of euphoria is right under your nose. It is simply a decision that your self worth is not in the hands of anyone else. It is consistently revealed when you decide to do the next hardest thing you can possibly do. It will seem silly later that you hung on to what was familiar just because it was safer than adventure or doing the hard things.
Be not afraid. You are now forging the soul of one strong enough to laugh at the prospect of dying alone.
 Be not afraid because when you welcome death alone with peaceful contentment you shall not want anything.
This is the beginning of your magnetism.
Your magnetism begins and continually grows when you go into the storm for your own entertainment because anything else is so boring. Your magnetism grows because it is impossible to “unradiate” a forged soul that is bored with anything less than the burden of the World.
Be not afraid because your magnetism will speak for itself in your eyes. Your eyes will no longer lie like they did when you lied to yourself with each broken promise after broken promise.
Your eyes will naturally communicate the magnetism without the necessity of the words as if you’re the type of person that seeks the bottom for your own amusement.   Your eyes will communicate what the future will feel like to anyone lucky enough to be around you. They will communicate that whatever storm is coming you will only be comfortable in front.
Any other position is just painfully uninteresting.
This is why gratitude for heartbreak is warranted. The bottom of heartbreak is the origin of your magnetism and you might’ve never been acquainted with it before. So get to get to the bottom as fast as possible.
And be grateful for the journey to it took to find it.
