🌐 Wondering what that little ostrich icon is in the BBA website footer? 👀
⏩ Welcome to NOSTR.
An open, #decentralised protocol for social networking, where your digital #identity can move with you across compatible apps, without being tied to a single platform.
Its name stands for “Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays”.
Why does this matter? Because decentralisation extends beyond finance. It also shapes how we connect, share knowledge and build communities.
The BBA is on Nostr. If you’re already there, come and connect.

🚩 Built to be wrong, safely.
What if the strength of a policy lies not in predicting the future but in its ability to adapt when those predictions prove wrong?
🌐 At the Blockchain Associations Forum’s 6th Annual Summit, BBA President Prof. Dr @nprofile…vfsn MBE FBBA explored how we can govern innovation while leaving room for discovery.
“The task is not to get rid of the man with the red flag [regulation]. The task is to teach him where to stand.”
That means putting safeguards where technology touches people, and being willing to revise the rules as our understanding grows.
Whilst we cannot anticipate every breakthrough, we can build institutions capable of learning.
🎥 Watch this excerpt from “The Ontology of Governing Innovation.”, built on his recently published essay:

🚨 SECURITY ALERT: Phishing email impersonating the British Blockchain Association
A fraudulent email is circulating that appears to come from the BBA. The subject line is:
"BIS Initiative: Invitation to Join the Global Scientific Committee"
⛔️This email is fraudulent.
❌ The BBA has no involvement in any "Evidentiary Blockchain Sandbox & Academy". We are not working with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on any such initiative, and we have not nominated anyone to a BIS committee.
Fraudsters are increasingly impersonating trusted institutions in our sector. If in doubt, always double-check with us directly, via our official channels such as Linkedin messaging.

🏛️ Institutional repositories play a vital role in research dissemination. They preserve scholarly work, support open access and help bring knowledge to audiences beyond academia: from policymakers and businesses to practitioners and the public.
It is encouraging to see research published in The Journal of The British Blockchain Association (JBBA) available through the University of Johannesburg’s Institutional Repository.
▶️ One such paper, by Edzai Kademeteme (Ph.D IS) and Stella Bvuma explores how blockchain could improve integrity and transparency in procurement between small, medium and micro-enterprises (#SMEs) and #government.
Their systematic literature review examines 12 articles, identifying themes including contract handling, data security, transaction processing and access to critical information. It provides a foundation for investigating how blockchain might support more transparent and accountable public procurement.

2026-09-24 15:07:20 UTC

🚀 We have just launched one of the most comprehensive one-stop portals for National Blockchain Roadmaps. 🌍
🏛️ Designed for policymakers, regulators and senior leaders, the BBA’s new NBR portal brings together research, international experience and practical resources to help jurisdictions develop and implement their own national blockchain strategies.
📍 As of September 2026, 15 countries have put forward a national-level Blockchain roadmap, with the 🇺🇸 US among one of the latest to advance the Deploying American Blockchains Act of 2025.
⏩ What will you find inside:
🛠️ Policymaker toolkit — a readiness checklist, implementation scorecard and briefing for policy teams.
🧭 A step-by-step guidance and a masterclass on designing an NBR.
🎥 Resources and NBR video — research papers, national documents and explanatory videos.
🌍 Global guidance — perspectives on governance, collaboration, public value and social impact.
🌐 Countries with an NBR — publication dates, issuing organisations and original sources.
🇬🇧 UK NBR’s 20 recommendations — supporting the UK’s Vision 2030, with key takeaways and thematic navigation.
🤝 BBA’s global NBR events — forums, summits and international discussions.
📖 JBBA themed issue — research dedicated to National Blockchain Roadmaps.
🏛️ BBA’s international leadership — our contribution to advancing roadmap discussions around the world.
🎤 Keynotes and talks — public engagements, presentations and recordings.
The portal builds on years of BBA research, policy engagement and international dialogue. It connects the question "Why does our country need a roadmap?” with the practical work of designing, delivering and evaluating one.
➡️Developing your first NBR or reviewing an existing strategy? Explore the portal and get in touch with the BBA.

📍Nine years of the British Blockchain Association's Annual Reports:
Since our founding in 2017, we've published an Annual Review of our work — what we set out to do and what we delivered. Every one is now collected in a single section on our new website.
The research we backed, the policy we shaped, the standards we pushed for, and the people who made it happen. If you want to understand how evidence-based blockchain went from an idea to a movement, the story is here in full.
Read the reviews from 2018 to 2026:

📍Membership should mean more than having your name on a directory.
It should create opportunities to contribute, to be heard, and to participate in the conversations shaping the future of the field.
🙌🏽 That is why this reflection from Priscilla Sinder, Founder of Property Conveyancing Consultancy, particularly resonated with us.
🏛️ As a Corporate Member of The British Blockchain Association, Priscilla highlights not only the guidance and support received through the BBA, but the opportunity to participate and to showcase the work of the PCC across the wider BBA ecosystem.
For us, that is what meaningful membership looks like: participation, contribution and connection.
Thank you, Priscilla, for sharing your experience and being a part of The BBA.

BBA Impact Dashboard:
https://www.britishblockchainassociation.org/impact-tracker

2026-09-21 14:16:25 UTC

🚀 Today, we are launching the BBA #Impact & #Influence Dashboard, a new way to explore how the work of The British Blockchain Association and its global #network travels beyond publications, conferences and #policy discussions.
➡️ Six Impact Domains:
📍Policy, Parliament or Government Impact
📍Academic / Scholarly Impact or Point of Reference (POR)
📍News, Media and Press Engagement
📍Social Media Mentions
📍Talks or Conference Citations
📍Industry and Institutional Impact
🌐 Over the years, BBA research, initiatives and community expertise have been cited, #referenced, shared and used across academia, #industry, government, #policy and professional practice.
But impact is not simply about counting outputs. It is about understanding what happened next.
➡️ Where did a piece of research inform another study?
➡️ Where did evidence contribute to a policy discussion?
➡️ Where did an initiative shape industry thinking or practice?
➡️ Where did the BBA network help bring people, institutions and ideas together to create better outcomes?
The BBA Impact & Influence Dashboard brings this evidence together in one place.
At its centre is the BBA Impact Wheel — SIX colour-coded impact #domains designed to make the evidence easy to explore and navigate. Each colour opens a different part of the BBA’s #impact story, allowing visitors to move from headline activity to the underlying examples and evidence.
For the BBA, this is also part of a wider commitment to Evidence-Based Blockchain: applying the same emphasis on evidence and measurable #outcomes to our own work that we advocate for across the #blockchain ecosystem.
From a network that began in 2017 to an international community spanning research, policy and industry, the Dashboard begins to document something important:

📍Labour MP raises crypto hardware wallet cybersecurity requirements in Parliament
➡️ Lizzi Collinge MP , Labour MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, has questioned the Government over the adequacy of cybersecurity requirements applying to hardware wallets used to store cryptoasset private keys.
➡️ Responding, Economic Secretary to the Treasury Lucy Rigby KC MP said the Government’s new crypto regulatory regime will require firms undertaking regulated activities in or to the UK to be authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, including firms safeguarding cryptoassets and private keys. She said authorised firms will be required to meet robust standards covering risk management, operational resilience and financial crime controls.

📍 Do you make decisions based on high-quality Evidence?
✅ Evidence-Based Blockchain is conscientious, explicit, and judicious decision-making grounded in professional expertise plus the best available evidence from organisations, stakeholders, and scientific research.
➡️ BBA's Centre for Evidence-Based Blockchain (#CEBB), established in 2018, is the world's first such centre dedicated to EBB. It is a neutral, global coalition of leading think-tanks and practitioners that:
✅ Applies the #PCIO framework (Problem – Comparison – Intervention – Outcomes)
✅ Uses the #5As method (Ask, Acquire, Appraise, Apply, Assess)
✅ Sets benchmarks so policymakers and industry can distinguish signal from noise
✅ Bridges academia and practice so research actually informs deployment
When you ask “Does this actually work"? you protect public money, protect users, and protect the credibility of the entire field.
