anti-AC movement is mostly a bogeyman invented by the twitter brains
Hmm…
“We must absolutely not install air conditioning everywhere; that would only make things worse.” The words of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the radical left La France Insoumise party, on Friday, June 19,

handful of ecologists who protest the energy use of AC units
The AC are most needed at the peak of PV output, which is otherwise curtailed or exported. Also specifically France runs 70% on nuclear power which has constant operational costs and is low-carbon.

In 2025 #Germany generated 94 TWh of electricity from coal at ~1000 gCO2eq/kWh, but it could have been zero if not one “climate crime” decision (climate scientists’ words not mine), because only in 2010 Germany produced 133 TWh per year from #nuclear power at 5.6 gCO2eq/kWh. Also, much much cheaper. As part of Energiewende Germany decided to replace that 133 TWh from nuclear by a source that has exactly 178x higher CO2 intensity… and called that “climate protection” 🤷
