I think we don't question enough what can be defined as technical 'progress', and which technological advances have ended up being more detrimental to human development and well-being. Do I want to still be living in a cave, foraging for my food? No. Am I grateful for many technological advances? Yes. Do I think all technological advances have been a net positive for the human experience? No.
Our bodies are built to move, not sit. We have 5 senses, several of which are becoming increasingly neglected. It is far healthier to squat than sit. Our eyes should be constantly changing focus, not staring at screens a few inches away for hours on end. We might be living longer but I question if we are living more healthily. We are becoming softer. Less resilient. Less resourceful. Over stimulated. Less connected. Less grounded. Thanks to technical progress. It's always about finding the balance. Convenience and ease are a disease.

I am so sorry for your loss. I sincerely hope you can all get the help you need. Suicide impacts the whole family. And impacts the generations to come, if the trauma is not processed. My mum was 5 when her dad blew his brains out. One day he drove off to work and never came back. Cause of death never spoken about. After all, what would the neighbours think? Sent off to boarding school at 8. Just got on with it. No big deal. To the outside world, all seemed fine.
But her body has kept the score. She is emotionally damaged. As are her children. I really wish that she (and her mother) could have received the help needed to deal with the enormity of his violent death.
The good news is it is never too late to face your demons. Even if the older generation can't, subsequent ones can. It's the hardest, most vulnerable journey. But SO worth it.

2026-10-15 09:44:10 UTC

Instead of starting the day with a to 'do' list, I'm going to start the day with a to 'be' list.
I am, after all a human 'being'.
Once I have established how I want to 'be' that day, (calm, inspired, excited, lazy, productive, sociable ...) then can come the to 'do' list to make my to 'be' happen.

A lot of GRIM videos resonate with me. Humanity desperately need strong, honourable men. Just as we desperately need women who know their real value (which is truly priceless).
Men need their own spaces. And women have 'invaded' them over the last decades, in the name of feminism. Women need their own spaces too.
Families matter. Brotherhoods matter. Sisterhoods matter.
It's not about shutting out. Its about protecting the sacred. Keeping the balance.

I'm not that far yet! Learning to be aware of what is happening in my body. And listening to it. And respecting it. Learning what I am prepared to do and what not. Learning not to blame others, as every person is the way they are for a reason. Learning to let go of whstbis beyond my control. Learning to listen. Without defending. (Can't do this with mum yet - but can with most others). Learning not to problem solve for other people. Learning not to judge (Long way still to go). Learning that life is about being, not doing. Learning I have nothing to prove. Learning I'm OK as I am, warts and all. Learning not to try to change others. Learning to recognise and express my needs. Learning that I can't expect any one person to fulfil all my needs. Learning that I don't have to fulfil all the needs of my loved ones.
What a journey. But so worth it.
TRE (trauma release exercise) helps me enormously. Your body knows exactly how to release stored trauma. We have just become too far removed from nature and ourselves to remember how.

Its not just physically being on the phone or screen that makes us unavailable/distant for our children/loved ones.
I know instantly if someone is present with me in body but not in mind and soul.
Children miss nothing.
They are wired to seek their parent's undivided attention, especially the younger they are.
And that seems to have become one of the hardest things for an adult to give: undivided attention to a fellow human. Does humanity need another app? Or does it need intimate, deep and meaningful relationships. Deep connections. Love. Presence?

A society where the few mothers we have are lonely, unsupported and overchallenged. And finacially disadvantaged . A society that doesn't value the maker of a peaceful and loving home. A society that doesn't recognise the vital, vital importance of the masculine. The husband. The father. The protector of and provider for the mother and child. Emotionally and physically. Sister of a friend is a banker. At a small provincial German bank. She's consistently rolled her eyes at any talk of bitcoin energy solutions. Yesterday my friend receives a message from her - she has a substantial loan request on her desk from a long-standing bank customer for an investment in solar, battery and ..... asics.
