You don't have to be in control of all or most of that infrastructure on Nostr. The benefit of a decentralized protocol is that some clients or relays might ban you, but it is not a single point of failure, and others might not.
It is also far easier to create a new account or multiple new accounts if the first one got banned, but I haven't verify yourself.
A good example is that Facebook banned Donald Trump and he couldn't even make a new account. Anything with his name or with his associated identifiers like email addresses also got banned anytime we try to make something new. With permissionless account creation, he or anyone else banned similarly could just make a thousand new accounts and circumvent stuff.
Also, the open source nature of the protocol means that even if you got banned by every existing client, you could literally just make your own and then lock back in anyway.
Obviously, there's no perfect answer. But this is a heck of a lot better than any other centralized program where one admin that hates you can just delete everything and there is no recourse.
