1) Draw from a photograph, say,
of your dog. But turn the photo upside down and draw it the way you see it--upside down. We have a mental image in our head of what a dog "should" look like and drawing it upside down short-circuits that and forces you to use the other part of your brain that can transcribe the dog in front of you, not the one in your head. It won't be pretty. But it trains your brain and your hands and you'll learn something about yourself.
