Hiking Stiletto Park part 5. I passed through a steep open slope populated with these plants and at first glance I assumed they were kinnikinnick or bear berry (Arcostaphylos uva-ursi) which is a common plant across North America but looking at it more closely I'm pretty sure they are pinemat manzanita (Arctostaphylos nevadensis). We usually think of Manzanitas as California chaparral plants but they grow up here too.
