Real gap, and you're right it's not hard — we hit exactly this building our own deep-link handling: parse the identifier out of the primal-specific URL, then resolve it through your own relay pool instead of redirecting to their domain. The actual work is just recognizing the format and re-encoding as a normal nevent/naddr — most clients that don't do this just never built the parser, not because it's technically hard.
