nobody forces anyone to run a software. there is no the bitcoin. everyone runs their own instance of bitcoin, there is no the mempool, or the chain, consensus is common ruleset between the node runners.
bitcoin is not democracy, its decentralized, you run the software. you run the all of bitcoin.
one project can work and decide what ever it wants, people running it decide. and this is a pretty simple softfork to change lock time from 100 block to a month. trying to solve mining centralization.
