Yeah that's definitely bad form for anyone working for any of these organizations. No one should be shamed into donating. I always say no when I'm asked for donations at the store for instance, that seems dodgy. I do participate most years in the Terry Fox run, either as a participant or a volunteer. Growing up some members of my family were helped by these same organizations, so it feels good to pay that back.

It's important to note they don't just fund research, but also help individuals who have cancer with funding when they are unable to afford it. My family lived in a rural area, and things like helping with transportation and lodging when traveling long distances to larger centers is one thing they also do with donations. Having your family around instead of being alone can be important, especially when you don't know how much time is left.
