Short answer for me is yes to all of the above. Heartburn, GERD, a chest-gripping sensation like a heart attack, lower abdominal pain, distended stomach, diarrhea, weakness... and the eventual emergence of other auto-immune disorders (psoriasis and lactose intolerance).
I developed my fully-expressed celiac disease at age 49, after a 3 week business trip to India. Three bouts of food poisoning triggered it. (There's a genetic predisposition... both my sisters, probably my parents.)
It took a few years of major denial to finally admit what I had.
2 days after going gluten-free, I started to feel good... and within a week, great. And I stayed great for 15 years... until 6 weeks of radiation treatment for cancer stirred up a new set of GI problems.
