Hiking Ptarmigan Ridge part 8. On the way back down I took the scenic route through the Chain Lakes and you can see here, too, that fall has arrived. The red leaves here are blueberry bushes. Yellow leaves on the mountain ash or rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), a tree in the rose family, seen commonly in subalpine environments in the Cascades and also found right around the Northern hemisphere.
