so in terms of gas and electricity consumption E53 is easily the efficiency king ...
but XM is more efficient in that it is manufactured in USA and avoids import tariffs ...
will E53 save enough money on electricity to offset the tariff ???
both BMW and Mercedes have a strategy where they manufacture SUVs in USA but sedans in Germany
the tariff is currently 15% ...
both of these cars are also very safe in terms of IIHS driver fatality rate which is more important than crash ratings ... but the XM will have a slight edge here due to being larger and heavier ... is the marginal improvement in safety worth 50% higher energy consumption ?
the XM will also be more expensive to maintain in the long term due to having two turbos and two cylinder banks ...
basically E53 wins the mind but XM wins the heart
what do you think ?
i feel like the main difference between those two cars is style
namely XM is bold and futuristic while E53 is elegant and conservative
i personally prefer the styling of the XM it just looks baller and screams FUCK YOU NIGGER while the E53 basically says "i am designed for Europoors who can't afford to pay for gas"
as for electricity consumption the XM consumes about 50% more electricity per mile because it has double the aerodynamic drag
so there is no denying the E53 is all around MUCH more efficient but also that's why it has "EUROPOOR" written all over it ... by contrast the XM has FUCK IT WE BALL ! ! ! written all over it. efficiency ? what's that ?
what do you think ?
