namely XM is bold and futuristic while E53 is elegant and conservative
i personally prefer the styling of the XM it just looks baller and screams FUCK YOU NIGGER while the E53 basically says "i am designed for Europoors who can't afford to pay for gas"
as for electricity consumption the XM consumes about 50% more electricity per mile because it has double the aerodynamic drag
so there is no denying the E53 is all around MUCH more efficient but also that's why it has "EUROPOOR" written all over it ... by contrast the XM has FUCK IT WE BALL ! ! ! written all over it. efficiency ? what's that ?

even though XM's MSRP was much higher it actually sells for less used because it came out a few years earlier and is less in demand in the used market ... and because XM is made here in US while E53 is imported from Germany ...
also even though the XM has a V8 while the E53 only has inline-6 actually the E53 is slightly faster because it is 800 pounds lighter ...
they are also both plug-in hybrids and they are also both known to have rather punishing ride due to being setup with very aggressive suspension and low profile tires ...
really they are almost completely matched except that one is a wagon and one is an SUV ...
well obviously the wagon gets much better fuel economy but really with plug in hybrids you never buy gas anyway ... the XM would be a bit more in electrical bills that's about it ...
