Fiat gives the money printer authority to create money by changing the rules.
Bitcoin does the opposite. Miners have no authority to create bitcoin however they want. They compete to produce blocks and get paid according to the rules of the network.
If those rules are bent simply to protect miners or give them a special privilege to create more bitcoin, the distinction starts to disappear.
Bitcoin miners are supposed to follow the rules, not write themselves a special paycheck.
The moment the system gives an industry the power to change monetary rules for its own survival, you have to ask: how different is that from the fiat money printer?
