And in fairness, I have the least issue with Income Taxes and Sales Taxes. You have to have earned income to pay the former - and our tax code incentivizes you to move away from it to Capital Gains - and the second is partially voluntary - no one taxes the food I grow, etc.
Property Taxes are the real bullshit. Mostly goes to schools that neither I or my children have ever attended. Also makes ‘ownership’ laughable.
