The sad thing is that Bitcoin is never going to make it to your phone as long as it remains dependent on the fiat gatekeepers now ruling unchallenged on SHA-256. There are plenty of reasons why I don’t see that happening there, but these are probably the biggest ones:

1. The chain is growing too fast, especially thanks to blowing up OP_RETURN. Phone hardware simply won’t be able to keep up with the memory requirements.

2. Nobody left on SHA-256, at least nobody that matters, seems to think Bitcoin is actually supposed to be money. To them, Bitcoin can be anything else, just not money.

3. Development on SHA-256 is highly centralised and tightly controlled. You’re not going to get the support or funding for genuinely groundbreaking designs. The most consequential engineering achievement in the past nine years was DATUM, and the entire industry pretends it doesn’t exist.

There are plenty of other reasons why I don’t think SHA-256 Bitcoin will ever run on phones. But these three should already tell you where this is heading.
