I had trouble with Ubuntu but also it was a rapid switch and I wasn't prepared for it and it wasn't my choice. When I successfully switched to Linux I did the USB boot up for about a month first to get used to it without committing everything.
I will say the drivers get super annoying. It took me months to realize the reason I couldn't project my presentations at the library was because it needed a proprietary driver for the HDMI. The FOSS version from Linux just gave errors.
