Playstation and others operating like it want the full market monopoly. They want sole access and full profit from all sales. And since you also cannot resell a digital download code, that means Playstation sells another copy, where that sale might've been resold by the original buyer. Playstation doesn't get a cut from private resale and they want to stop that.
