I was just putting some beer bottle tops on the bin, I did. Then some maracas type sounds come on my headphones of a #Techno track I'm listening to, so I took the bottle tops out the bin and started shaking them in my hands, in unison, to the music. Ghost walked into the kitchen and gave me a WTF kind of look, so I swiftly put them back in the bin☹️. Yes, I'm drunk and slightly insane🥳.
Bitcoin doesn't fail if other chains provide utility
we've always had different value transfer networks that people have used for their own reasons and convenience

Freedom is gnawed away wherever someone can impose consequences on your life without having to justify them—or face consequences themselves.
At work, when your livelihood depends on silence about misconduct.
In housing, when asserting your rights means risking the roof over your family.
In banking, when access to your own money can be restricted without a meaningful explanation or an accessible appeal.
In government, when surveillance expands behind secrecy while accountability disappears behind procedure.
On digital platforms, when opaque decisions determine whether your voice, business or history remains accessible.
In the justice system, when the cost of challenging an abuse exceeds what the injured person can afford.
The pressure lands on the same point every time: your ability to refuse.
You may speak—but can you survive the retaliation?
You may appeal—but can you afford the process?
You may leave—but can you recover your money, records and livelihood?
A right becomes fragile when exercising it requires extraordinary personal sacrifice.
And impunity grows wherever the person imposing the harm is insulated from its cost. The institution funds its defence. The individual funds their own exhaustion. Delay does the rest.
“The policy was followed” cannot settle whether the policy was abusive.
Freedom requires reasons that can be examined, decisions that can be challenged, remedies that arrive in time, and consequences for those who abuse their authority.
Watch what happens when an ordinary person says no.
That is where the real terms of their freedom become visible.

Your passport was valid. Your flight was booked. The system couldn’t process you.

On 18 September, an e-gate outage disrupted Sydney and other Australian international airports, forcing manual passenger processing. Service was restored by 11am; the cause remained under investigation. "Report" (https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/sydney-airport-hit-with-system-outage/news-story/8e9227909db6fed27b515c16b2c243c0)
That should provoke a serious question: how much of our freedom depends on a service desk somewhere remaining online?
A properly decentralised blockchain is designed so that losing one operator does not mean losing the shared record. Independent nodes retain and verify it. Bitcoin’s architecture makes verification possible without relying on a single central intermediary. "Bitcoin whitepaper" (https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf)
But precision matters. Blockchains can fail. A working ledger cannot repair a broken airport network, biometric scanner or gate. We do not yet know whether a blockchain would have prevented this incident. Conventional distributed infrastructure can also provide resilience.
The principle worth demanding is this: one service failing should not make everyone’s credentials unverifiable. Passport details should remain private, with cryptographic verification and carefully designed fallback procedures.
Then comes the political tension.
“Fiat governments will never adopt blockchain” is too absolute. Central banks are already pursuing it. The ECB’s stated ambition includes preserving central bank money’s role in a tokenised financial system. "Reuters" (https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/ecb-should-embrace-blockchain-safeguard-its-role-schnabel-says-2026-08-28/)
My argument is that governments will readily adopt the machinery while resisting the surrender of unilateral control.
A ledger they administer fits existing power structures. A monetary network whose rules they cannot unilaterally rewrite presents a different proposition.
The same independence that protects a system from an operator’s failure also limits that operator’s authority.
Adopting blockchain is easy compared with accepting that you are no longer its final authority.
