I've started categorizing internet technologies/services into 3 categories based on how their infrastructure is architected.
Centralized: Basically every big service you know. The users of a service talk to one server or a network of servers all controlled by one person/organization. You're left up to their whims.
Distributed: There are still clients and servers, but the servers all speak a common language (known as a protocol) and can be operated by anyone. Some protocols have varying degrees of trust, with the Fediverse placing the trust of someone's data and identity in a single server operator and Nostr using trustless cryptographic identity and distributed data storage.
Peer to Peer: There are no servers. Users of the service directly communicate with each other, with few to no middlemen (BitTorrent trackers, STUN/TURN servers, etc).

The new mariokart world update has done NOTHING to make the experience of joining friends in world matches better, especially for knockout tour. They really need to highlight friends and tell you if a friend left, since i want to stay with a friend if i join them.

I got to 1000 points, and got the win streak nameplate!
I even went on a 5-WIN STREAK :o
I may keep playing on the other days but I'm out for the first day :>

This is one of the reasons why I wish that artists could get on Nostr, so that people can directly support their work. Sadly many artists seem to have a disdain for cryptocurrency.

Bluesky (and the AT Protocol it runs on) is quite versatile like Nostr, and it has much more mainstream appeal than Nostr. Nostr is still the most trustless and distributed social network by far, unlike Bluesky where there are some layers of its protocol that are more centralized than others.
github, more like gitHUH
https://gifverse.net/media/AaBe07QM/original.gif
Those two maintainers also put the repo for that big project they run on Codeberg, a platform that recently decided that projects with a large amount of AI-generated code would no longer be allowed.
And I do like Soapbox’s work on the Mostr bridge as well, bringing users from the Fediverse (from servers that don’t defederate the bridge) and Bluesky (who opt into Bridgy Fed) into the Nostr ecosystem.
There's been this trend going around of this Undertale soul thingy, so I did the test

I just wish people could get over being scared of cryptocurrency and actually see Nostr for what it is, not just Bitcoin or conservative politics. I once made a blog post about Nostr and some people who run a project that runs on the Fediverse and ATProto were calling Nostr users (as a whole, not specific people) bad names.

Thanks https://shayshayshamera.bsky.social for playing with me through most of the Bottomless stages, we kept failing to beat it together but I got our revenge against the gilded brute fish :>

Nostr and Mastodon both have a feature I like: custom content warnings. On Ditto specifically you can add a CW under the plus button -> Spoiler.
Don't know if any Nostriches are into Splatoon, but better safe than sorry

Codeberg, a popular GitHub alternative, just decided to completely ban AI-generated ("vibecoded") projects from their site, with the terms of service stating "You must not share projects that mostly consist of code written by generative AI tools."
All of the reasons Codeberg stated for the ban of LLM usage on the platform are politically charged at best, and other statements might be real problems that could have been solved in other ways. Also some of the public discussion that took place seemed to contain people with a personal prejudice towards AI.
This is why we need ngit, and even other distributed Git forges like Radicle or Gitlawb (2 places where Bitchat got a mirror in the India fallout). Even moving to another centralized host still means you're at the whims of someone, whether it be Microsoft or Codeberg eV.

Hey @npub1g53…drvk when will Nostr VPN's docker container (nostr-vpn-umbrel) get an update? It's been stuck at 4.0.67 for a while
We do, it’s called ngit
You do need a special CLI to use ngit sadly, you can get it at https://gitworkshop.dev/ngit
Hey @npub15qy…yejr should martti remake this pr using ngit? I just checked the repo and it seems like that's the best way to submit PRs
I notice one problem... you can't continue without any AI harnesses. I know the app was partially designed around agents but someone might want to join a team and doesn't subscribe to any AI harnesses.
Ok so I saw popups on my Ditto feed saying that @npub1g53…drvk (the Iris guy) had apparently replicated repositories published under his organization @npub1xdh…eycm on Iris Git (hashtree) to ngit but the code is still only hosted on hashtree, no GRASP nodes. With no GRASP nodes the code can still only be viewed on Iris Git (not GitWorkshop) and requires htree to clone (not ngit).
It works now :>
At least the architecture change you made for the desktop apps meant they kept working even if the site was down, i like using nostria to manage blossom files
Seeing how @npub10qd…arpj is messing with that new Buzz thing on a Quest. I might be letting Meta have free real estate but its interesting to mess around with face computer
https://blossom.ditto.pub/b98a4a1955d37b2b83c02f0cbe7ba0f95a43d5ad886826451514a483c305f482.jpeg
It’s cool that @npub10qd…arpj is updating the Mostr Bridge, but sadly it’s a bit useless to many Mastodon users as mastodon.social has DEFEDERATED Mostr (you can’t search for or follow a Mostr user, even if you know their npub or Mostr username). The Mastodon maintainers’ newer server, mastodon.online, only has a “limited” state for mostr.pub meaning it’s possible to follow a Mostr user if you know their npub or Mostr username.
The best experience of Nostr is always to get your own keys and join the network for real.

Idk how often people are going to play normal #splatoon once #splatoonraiders comes out :c
Also some other nostr devs i know would fit into that too
Well Nostr has lost a user, someone from diVine :<
Ditto makes it a lot more dramatic lol, showing a bright red banner on your feed if someone you follow uses a vanish event to delete their account

@npub10qd…arpj is one of the most fun devs on Nostr :>
They’re the people behind Ditto and they’ve made other cool stuff too
i saw this image as a reply under a reply from Soapbox’s @npub18am…p424, i would say him and the others @npub10qd…arpj fall into that last camp lol
https://relay.littlebitstudios.com/15712b1150900f7fbd478248fe6575459a6a9998a8a6993192a0c66836ce65e6.png
Also if you have an Android phone, the Armada Android app can connect to the Bitchat mesh.
One of the coolest things I've found out about #ngit is that the ngit CLI can help you keep copies of your repo on other git hosts (github, tangled, etc) in sync
clone your repo onto a machine that has ngit installed, set up the repo for ngit using ngit init -i, then go to gitworkshop and add the other hosts
now when you push/pull from your workstation it will also update the other git hosts too (assuming your machine has keys authorized to access the other hosts)
Gleason’s collective, @npub10qd…arpj, also recently released a Discord-like app called Armada. It combines NIP17 (DMs), NIP29 (relay communities), and a new protocol called Concord which enables communities similar to NIP29 but E2EE and without needing your own relay.
Also if you set up a custom theme in Ditto, it carries over to Armada.
Hey @npub1zl3…jajh why is Nostria down? It keeps saying "this web app is stopped".
Right now I'm hosting code in 3 places, ngit (including my pyramid relay's grasp node), tangled, and github
I did try Iris Git (Hashtree) but it's quite complicated compared to ngit
let’s copy some trends :o

copy this to your profile and let

Hey @npub10qd…arpj it seems like armada has some issues on iOS… in Firefox it just crashes and reloads all the time
in Safari or a PWA it will crash and reload a few times before giving up with “A problem repeatedly occurred…”
