The Rabbit Hole
The #Bitcoin rabbit hole is a life changing trip. It can be awkward. It can be enriching. And at times, it can be dangerous.
Cyphermunk House promotes privacy at every event, discouraging unsolicited photography and the unnecessary sharing of sensitive information. We encourage all who pass through to adopt a nym or alias for added peace of mind; Carrot, Rabbit, Sparkle2. It costs you nothing to adopt, can keep you safe and counterpoints YOUR NAME and the legal artifice the system depends upon.
Separate yourself from this legal fiction. You are not a slave. You are a Bitcoiner. Stay safe, stay real and keep falling. The tribe awaits, Anon.

The nominal number will climb, the value will remain - I did some really interesting maths recently, despite the numbers on our money going up insane amounts, we're actually still far wealthier than 30 years ago. Gotta measure time required to know the real values, the numbers are meaningless.
Good morning, rofl! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Indeed. My politics is so extreme the people around me who consider themselves lect/right wing and who hate eachother with growing passion both look identical. I know it's not going to happen, but that also affords me a degree of freedom to share my thoughts. Only those that could be enacted, because they have wide support, are shouted down by either side. I'm just the nutter in the corner, to them, muttering about not doing evil things.

Trouble is it doesn't work like that. The numbers change, the obligation stays the same. In 2015 we finished paying the reparations to the slave owners from the 1840s. That debt was paid through theft of people's time and energy comfort over a century. The numbers climbed, the debt wasn't inflated away. The obligation remained and the obligations on people as yet unborn are climbing even more rapidly. Yeah, their numbers could look even more insane than ours do to people from 100 years ago but the time obligation remains the same.
I'm eyeing #Bark. It works smoothly! I even built myself a Bark wallet with AI and a POS on satoshi.si NIP05 page. Needs a bit of polishing but it works 🧹
Ark transactions are instant and basically free between Ark wallets

And the implementation is stupidly easy thanks to what @Second is building 👏 and my patient clankers of course.
(I haven't tried other providers yet).

But I'm still not sure how I should feel about expiring VTXOs.
For active users, I can absolutely see the use case.
Bark Pay for merchants who regularly move funds around makes a lot of sense. The same goes for groups of people who transact with each other regularly. It's fast, cheap, and convenient.
Where I'm less convinced is onboarding someone who's completely new to Bitcoin.
Newcomers aren't going to think about periodically refreshing VTXOs, keeping wallet data backed up, or doing the mental gymnastics required to recover an old wallet.
Imagine someone receives some Bitcoin as a gift, forgets about it, and comes back two years later. Their VTXOs may have long since expired, and the ASP may have swept the funds according to the protocol.
And on the other side, that's a good thing — because no coins are ever lost and all of them eventually come back into circulation ♻️
That's a very different experience from the Bitcoin expectation of: "Keep your keys, come back in 10 years, and your sats are still there."
How expired funds are ultimately handled will probably differ from ASP to ASP. An ASP could choose to let users reclaim them later, but relying on that introduces a trust/policy assumption that ordinary on-chain Bitcoin doesn't have.
So I see Ark/Bark as potentially great for active spending and receiving payments as a merchant. I'm just not convinced yet that expiring VTXOs are a good fit for newcomers.
#Ark is not "set it and forget it" Bitcoin — but time will tell.
Looks promising 🧡

📰 **Bitcoin's New BIP Wants To Make Quantum Attacks Impossible. Developers Can't Agree On How**
✍️ by Madrid
A new BIP draft called BIP-360 proposes a radical overhaul of how Bitcoin stores public keys. It could make quantum attacks on dormant wallets impossible. But it also opens a governance fight about who gets to decide Bitcoin's cryptographic future, and how fast.
