I've compiled a list of current, dangerous, but less known ideas pushed by corporations and governments.
The list is sorted from the most to the least dangerous items.
Additional flags:
DG - DanGer to humanity
ED - Extreme Discrmination
S - Short sighted Stupidity
COL - Significant collateral damage
Lets start with the list.
First, the hidden, crawling, lingering motherfucker of epic proportions:
- LOCKED BOOTLOADERS in electronic devices - ED+, S, DG+ with an Urgent Alert extension. Possible humanity behavioral shift of an unknown proportions. Extremely dangerous.
- Data centralization - "everything in a datacenter" - DG, ED
- Hardware attestation (client side) - DG+, ED
- Age Checks and Blocks of any type - ED, S, COL
- Anonymous age checks (they don't exist yet) - ED, S
- On device data scanning - DG+, ED, S, COL, negative behavioral changes of billions of people. Only applicable if the bootloader is locked: Extremely dangerous if AGI is possible - an extinction level event warning.
- Undermining of the end-to-end encryption in transit or storage - DG+, ED, S, COL, Extremely dangerous if AGI is possible - an extinction level event warning.
- KYC - ED, COL, partially reversible.
- Artificially increased prices of RAM (memory) - ED+, COL
- Starvation of data and forcing of open LLMs to slow down their creation/expansion - S, COL
- Denying public IP addresses for people, allowing for companies - ED, S, temporary. Bypassable.
- A locked firmware of radios (any type) - S
- Unencrypted data stored in datacenters, currently all major corps: google, microsoft, apple, fb, tiktok, etc. - S.
- Forced location sharing by EMS911 and other mechanisms being used by other parties than EMS - S, ED, COL
- Using user data for model training - ED, S, medium level AGI danger.
- Ignoring physical crimes in favor of virtual "crimes" - COL+, ED
- On device AI models without control - DG+, ED, S - only applicable if the bootloader is locked.
- Fast language changes and word meaning changes because of bans and shadowbanning (i.e. unalive) - S
- Worldview skew because of shadowbanning on big platforms - S, source of bias, COL.
- General privacy invasions of other kinds - S, ED, COL, reversible.
