I would say yes. I have tried its video call and it’s really high quality. It downloads audio messages with a bit of delay and is not the best option to send big video files. But video calls work great.

If something needs a company to keep its servers alive, then you are trusting that company not to fail, sell out, get pressured, or change its mind.
Signal does a lot right, especially making encryption the default. But it still takes some trust on its centrally maintained servers to use it securely and privately. Once governments overreach (which they often do) we are at the mercy of Signal operators: their servers, their jurisdiction, and whatever choices they make when the pressure arrives.
However, running your own DeltaChat server on a VPS is trivial. You can set it up yourself or ask AI to set it up for you with the help of its documentation. Then you are not just using encrypted messaging. You are running the infrastructure too.
Setting up its server in a self-hosted manner is trivial and you can simply run its server on your VPS or home server.

As for Berd, though, I have no clue what it is 😄 I found its GitHub page, read the first few lines, and it immediately made me wonder: have you looked into Hermes?
It’s a great harness for using any AI model (even your Claude or OpenAI sub or both or even more!) and they have this beautiful motto that really captures the essence of the project: “The agent that grows with you.”
I might have completely misunderstood your question or what the point of Berd is, but if Hermes fits what you’re trying to do, I have a few tips for setting it up ;)

It back in 2015 when I first got interested in keeping fish and aquatic plants.
It all started with this one betta fish.
Then I thought: “Maybe I should get him a bigger bowl?”
Then: “How about a plant?”
(You can see both in the picture.)
And somehow, that turned into a full-fledged aquarium at home and eventually another aquarium at the school where I taught English and German.
After moving to Poland, I went years without keeping an aquarium. Then last year, I got one fish … yes, you guessed it: one small betta fish. 😄
And, once again, things escalated.
That one betta now lives in a 25-liter planted aquarium with a whole cleanup crew of Amano shrimp and several kinds of snails. To my credit, I have kept the aquarium and the species small this time to make the maintenance easier and keep the costs low.

Astra made Terra the easy default for serious coding prompts.
When the task deserves it, put Codex on Terra with High effort. It is cheap enough to use freely and the output quality is very good.

Astra burns through tokens quickly, so I’d reserve it for high-intensity work like complex planning.
Terra is already excellent for coding and getting things done. Now that Astra is the flagship, models like Terra have become cheap enough that you can code for hours without worrying too much about running out of tokens.

I’ve learned more in one year with AI than I did in all my years of tinkering with Linux and searching forums for answers. I rarely get stuck now. If something is too complicated, I can ask AI to do it for me. If it’s simple enough, I learn how to do it first, then type the commands into the terminal myself.
I had heard that address mining hacks can generate addresses that resembles yours very much and it’s better to check the full address.
Having read your comment, I checked with AI and it seems checking even 8 characters (if I remember correctly) can decrease the chances of being fooled by a fake address to impractical levels. But still, I’d prefer to check all the characters for the main transfer. Because 1) I won’t have to count which 12 characters I’d better check and 2) it reduces the stress levels and gives you some time to mentally prepare for clicking “Broadcast transaction”.
Was setting up a multisig with a client. As he watched me check every hash, signature, and character in an address, he asked, "Has anyone actually been screwed by missing any of these steps?"
He might have thought I was being paranoid or trying to make my role as a facilitator seem more complicated than it was just to justify why it needed to exist.
His jaw dropped when I told him that every single one of those failure modes has already been exploited!
That caution comes from real horror stories, not paranoia.
