LA PROMESSA DELLE NUVOLE
(THE PROMISE OF CLOUDS)

Some paintings need time.
Others seem to arrive almost by themselves.
This one was one of those.
I came across a photograph by chance, and something in it made me want to paint it.
The first part of the painting came together surprisingly quickly.
It’s still unfinished, but already feels like a good beginning.
I don’t know exactly where this painting is going yet.
And for once, I’m happy not to know.

The hardware wallet isn’t connected to Lightning; it’s only used to generate the mnemonic for the Spark wallet, derived from the seed phrase using the BIP 85 system.
Even if the Spark wallet were to be compromised, it would be impossible to access its contents.
I trust Spark just as much as I trust Rizful when it comes to making ‘zaps’ – that is, not at all – and in fact I only keep a very small number of sats in it.

Lately, I’ve been wondering if I’ve lost something in my painting.
Those fresh, instinctive brushstrokes that used to come before thought.
Maybe that’s not the point.
Maybe my hand has simply learned, and now I have to learn not to control it so much.
“Let go.”
“But what if I make a mistake?”
“Let the mistake stay too.”
Maybe freshness isn’t about going back, but about finding a new way to be instinctive.
I hate internet and the fact that I can’t do without it.

Turning back is impossible in life.
The river must take the risk
and flow into the ocean.
It is only by flowing into the ocean
that the fear will vanish,
for only then
will the river know that it is not
a matter of disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
It might even become a nice painting in the future...
