yeah, it really struck me when i was back in bishkek on a long walk along a main road, almost no colored cars anywhere. all black, grey, silver, white, with occasional low saturation colors like dark blue and dark green. there was one notable standout, a safety-orange color like the biohazard international standard color, and that was it. and shiny is on the way out, it looks like, also, a lot of new model cars coming out with matte paint and textured finishes. i think that there is a bit of a safety problem with the lack of colors, personally. and it also speaks of a psychological phenomenon going on where people are not demanding visual stimulation from their environment so much. it's not just the cars, it's also electronics too, you can make the same observation about the bodies of mobile phones too. i mean, i like silver for vehicles and black for electronics but that's partly due to things like the color scheme of silicon graphics workstations, back in the 80s and 90s black meant fast :)
