I agree with @npub1aqa…237n , in that nostr probably won’t all of a sudden dominate the social media world, the main reason is that nostr has more fine-tuning that can be done on the user end.
Large platforms offer more convenience, and the difference between seeing more and having your posts seen by more users is simply a matter of paying more and letting the platform do all of the back-end work.
Here, there are many clients from which you can choose, and you are free to try out many different ones and see which ones you like. Nostr is more like a language, with different clients, speaking different regional dialects. The benefit is that there are so many options, many of them are free, that can help you to fine-tune your experience here.
The downside is that it’s not simply a matter of paying more to get more.
The upside is that you don’t have to be wealthy in order to have fun here.
Traditional social media is more like cooking with a microwave, where the only thing you can adjust is the amount of time your food spends inside it.
Nostr is more like cooking on an open flame. You can really flex your creative muscles here.
There’s a bit of a learning curve, but we do appreciate you being here!!

I'm seeing many Nostrichs start audio rooms from amethyst or starting audio rooms from Nostrich and trying to join via amethyst but it's doesn't work. The reason is doesn't work is because Amethyst is coded exclusively to work only with Nostr Nests but Nostr Nests is broken. So if you start an audio room on Nostrich it won't work on Amethyst.
I've put in a request for Amethyst to discover all audio rooms and get it working because the demand for audio rooms is high.

I agree that the initial step is really hard. I only know enthusiasts who can overcome the initial hurdle of downloading a secure ISO and setting up an air-gapped device. You mentioned "coldcard dice users"; I think you can count on PGP users too, and not much more — just better hygiene and habits during the initial setup.
It's incredible to think that an industry which lost 10 trillion in capital last year has such poor security practices, and it's even worse when common users have such poor setups on their devices. It's uncommon to acquire a secure device such as a Yubikey or Nitrokey, and setting up a Graphene OS phone is very niche for the general user base.
I think we can do better, as demonstrated by the Foundation devices. Perhaps you could create a visually appealing, user-friendly app for their devices. I cannot think of any other device that is both highly secure and user-friendly.
