It's funny to me how wanting to regulate the AI industry is considered government overreach and centralization of power when the US, Chinese, and EU governments (among others) have been actively funding it, arranging the funding for it, changing laws to accomodate and promote it, and directing the development and implementation of it, the whole time.
There is, until now, absolutely no explanation for why any private person should be personally benefitting from the success of these projects, since none of the projects would be viable without everyone tacitly acknowledging that governments are underwriting their debt.
These have always been seen primarily as national security issues, not private science projects. That's why it's not treated as an asset bubble, even though these companies have no path to profitability: everyone knows their governments won't let them fail. Investing in AI is just another form of government asset, but with higher returns. Like investing in defense production.
