Still haven't cried, but 2 days after visiting Blue Eddie for the last time, I'm resigned to depending on neighbors & friends for rides for longer than I wanted. At least the brouhaha about my car's "impromptu Viking funeral" in the parking lot has died down at work.

11 years and 7 months, 155,000 miles together. Hoped for another 200K miles or til the wheels fell off. Some people hate Nissan cars, but he was just what I needed with great gas mileage. Farewell and join the scrapyard in the sky, Blue Eddie.

(And yes, I had an "Office Space" moment and had to take a picture of the baby pink Swingline stapler that was in the wreckage... It looked fused to some debris, so I left it alone)

#accidents #cars #memories #nissan #FireDamage #officespace #stapler

Have any Americans here had any luck walking out of a dealership with a financed car when your credit score is "rebuilding", you have ZERO dollars for the down payment (just started the new job), and CAN'T trade in your old vehicle because it burned?

After calling the insurance company today, I found out that liability only (the only kind I could afford because I was UNDER-employed for a year) meant I was not gonna get a check to cover a replacement vehicle for the impromptu Viking funeral. That means I've not no down payment possible. I also have to adjust my budget to cover possible payment plans.

I wondered if there was anything I could try to do. The dealership's finance company on a loose credit check denied it already, but I plan to call tomorrow and see what I can do in the meantime and what they'd recommend. My hope is come Friday (when I do get paid, if I can get things moved around), I may be able to get at least the first month's payment scraped together like a down payment.

Just never been in this whacky scenario before. Haven't cried yet; guess the hysteria is hanging on fast because I just had some fried rice & the vodka sounds like a good idea til I get sick of researching.
