It still allows me to switch PrivateDNS off (which in itself is Private as in, you privately communicate all your DNS requests to Google), but even though it now gets most of DNS requests from my pihole, the Google DNS still is in there as a fallback. This seems to be hardcoded and cannot be switched off

(except by rooting the phone I guess)

The security settings want me to activate AI-powered AI-detection to protect against AI and deepfakes. writing apps want me to use AI to compose things, and there's an AI app to remind me of stuff that happened to me before

one does have to wonder why I as a user still need to be in that loop at all

So far... I am not impressed.

Trying to install #netbsd on my old rpi zero.
Feels like pulling nails. Every time I manage to get further a new issue appears.

The main issue is that I don't know where the hdmi-microhdmi adapter is I used to have, because the rpi zero doesn't have a normal port, oh no.

So I know it's running fine. It installed, created a file system, and now even allows access via ssh. But not to root, and not with an empty password. I mean, that's sensible and all. But there's no other user account.

Glimmermark session 56: they went down to the troglodyte cave again and tried to defeat the tribe that lived there. In between they met mostly inconsequential random encounters... and a giant leech that just dropped on them.
The fight with the stinky lizards was tough, although nobody really went all that close to death and smart spell use took care of some opponents. Lucky for them about half the tribe was out at that moment, and they managed to take down the king of troglodytes.

They basically "cleared" the dungeon, although that's not quite right as the lich remains, the basilisk can regenerate, and the goblins will respawn as well. In fact it occurs to me that nearly none of the monsters in the adventure, outside the undead and a few bats maybe, can be dispatched all that easily. Even the black pudding likely is gonna come back unless properly burned off.

Glimmermark session 36: they found the treasure of the Tomb of the Serpent Kings. Despite being really careful they also managed to run into a pit trap that collapsed only on the 5th person in.
Dice were quite cold for them today, they managed to nearly completely miss two goblins they were trying to surprise (at AC9 and 1hp each!) And managed to get the rest of them alerted. Fortunately the goblins recognized them and decided to flee instead.

it's very interesting because it really is more of a wargame, but one where you don't want to necessarily go to war (because it takes you away from your social life in Paris). A large part of it is concerned with raising your status by different means, drinking in the right places with the tight people, and getting into duels. A large part of roleplaying is done in the campaign newsletters.

Shower thought: when I was a kid i felt like Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero had a reasonable name for a guy with ice powers, but as a European for me the name seemed a bit lackluster.

That also happens in larger construction zones. Driving on the autobahn both in Germany and Poland last weekend I again noticed how precarious the construction sites in Poland look. German autobahn construction sites have an inbuilt buffer in case someone doesn't notice the signs and rips through the markings at 200km/h. Polish construction sites don't.

First game at Cauldron done. lkh (npub149e…806c) had us explore the regions south of Castle Blaufahr. We went to the dungeon instead, rescued a bunch of goblins out of the hands of bandits, were lead to the goblin market, and got into a fracas with the goblins there.

Our fighters heroically took down the goblin king, cut off his head Conan style and showed it off to the hundreds of goblins.

Then they were slaughtered.

Magic users and cleric left as soon as things started to go sideways.

started rewatching Land of the Lost yesterday, which actually seems to be free on youtube. The special effects are just as pathetic as I remember, but the whole "Land of the Lost" setting gives great vibes for a #dnd subsetting: some pocket dimension that used to be an artificially created pathway to all kinds of places, but right now just traps random beings from all over the multiverse
