Be aware that there will eventually be an app that would call btc something that is not btc and you would move your coins without knowing
We should all need to be careful and somehow find out what would make bitcoin tx incompatible with bip110 so only your real bitcoin moves and bip110 stays to later sell them separately

Is there any bip110 guy here willing to deal 2:1 exchange rate so I sell all bip110 for half price and get their btc?

Discussions so far with Bip110 are total nonesense and they are one by one based on absolutely nothing you can prove, validate, measure...
it's all based on unilateral interpretations with total lack of understanding how bitcoin works. and I'm saying this even when some stuff on the current bitcoin verssion I don't like and I'd love to get traction with few more opcodes but yet, I understand how it works and even if those opcodes I want, did exist in the past, I can't go fork bitcoin with my opcodes and tell everybody that my fork is the real one
because "real" is nothing.. there is only consensus, economic activity, ecosystem etc. there is nothing real in something nobody uses.. you can still go do it but it'll still be a total waste of time.
I'm really surprised with the fanatism involved in the debate

2026-08-13 23:37:01 UTC

I'm starting to fear for innocent people buying into the bip110 branch scam
They are being led to believe in all sort of "out of protocol" claims
Same thing populist leaders do to scam population ...
I'm so sorry for those I hope only those scammers will be impacted and innocent bitcoiners react on time

I’m simply saying that unless consensus is achieved then anything else is just trying to cure cancer with bandaid
DDoS is not consensus.. simply an obvious local protection that whoever runs nodes would want to have
Maybe wrong about ctv and if there is consensus then that’s where discussion should be and together with that then we can all review if having that data in op returns make sense
That said, if we use bitcoin enough we can price out all that garbage… if we enable more use cases like ctv then base layer would simply be expensive for garbage and there would be incentives for them to do it on second layers

2025-09-06 13:26:56 UTC

- reply

Thinking that with bunch of raspberries running non consensus set of filters you can enforce new rules is another attack and luckily bitcoin can resist to it
DDoS attack you can spin up thousands of nodes without it and still bitcoin will resist ..
So in the end.. consensus or exit
Everything else is irrelevant
And by the way, the same people who dislikes op_return are opposed to op_ctv, op_cat etc
Should they have agreed with it, we wouldn’t be having this op_return debate and all the jpegs and stuff would live in other layers

2025-09-06 12:57:40 UTC

- reply

Consensus is what matters in the end.
And in fact this is very important because otherwise someone can come with 50 thousand raspberries and run a new version of core forcing rules that we may not have agreed with
So likely attacking bitcoin is not that cheap

2025-09-06 12:46:39 UTC

- reply

You can’t ban consensus rules with policy .. eventually they’ll find its way

2025-09-06 12:45:26 UTC

- reply

If people don’t like certain data in the mempool they can run knots or they can convince everyone to put the filters on
It’s just that they don’t like consensus so they want to impose
With nostr if you don’t like certain content you don’t relay but you don’t complain that others do

2025-09-06 12:21:20 UTC

- reply

Consensus rules are on top of policy rules

2025-09-06 12:19:40 UTC

- reply

It’s really surprising how stupid this discussion is.. and if you really really think limits are the right thing then you need to reach consensus instead of imposing limits through policy rules
I stand with bitcoin, with freedom, with open source and consensus rules
We need to keep dictators away.. and have discussions where they belong

2025-09-06 12:16:27 UTC

What do Dictators do?
- they basically think they have the power of ruling the country and your life regardless of this is something the country agrees with
What do filters do?
Same. They believe bitcoin consensus doesn’t matter so you need to put filters that are as effective as this image

2025-08-04 12:53:32 UTC

- reply

I can argue that it’s the other way around
1- having only one implementation made us get confused between what is consensus vs what is just an implementation spec. To a point that Core Devs can actually filter/control certain behaviors despite that not being in the consensus. Core is also somehow ruling what is going to be added even for future soft forks
2- with more implementations if one has a bug others will resist. Having only one implementation if there is a critical bug it’ll affect everybody
So I’m in favor of having more diversity of opinions and software is somehow an opinion here

2025-08-04 11:45:15 UTC

- reply

Of course and that’s the point.. you don’t need to agree but you can’t consider having more implementations to be an attack

2025-08-04 10:53:46 UTC

How can Bitcoiners be sometimes so narrow minded?
I am a bitcoiner but how can someone think that having more bitcoin node implementations gaining traction organically become an “attack on bitcoin”?
This is fucking open source tech.. having only one node is one possible option but definitively not the only setup possible @npub198a…0p3g

I meant s9 sorry, not s19
so shorterm hashrate sudden increases may mean something, long term hashrate growth is meaningless unless you factor it out with overal average hashrate improvements
I think is best if you run the numbers dividing hashrate by the average consumption per terahash you estimate the network has.

this is like if I'm protecting the network with the amount spent on hardrives but instead of measuring the money, I'm measuring disk space
man, when I started with my first computer, a 100mb drive was like the largest I could ever dream of... so disk space would definitively not be a great proxy.
but if you really really think Hashrate is a great proxy then we can pause here becuase it looks like we think of math very differently.

Yes exactly and that will go away fast… so not sure what you are talking about honestly …
In few halving from now if we don’t see onchain demand growing we will have a problem
You can bet on demand growing or price growing to 20-30 million
I’d rather add few other things that I believe would be great for bitcoin and that can increase chances of having stronger block space demand

Hashrate follows “dollar per block” and not price
In few halving, no matter how big the price is, dollars per block will be significantly reduced unless we get a surge of onchain demand (so far that doesn’t look to be the case) hence enabling trustless bridges will create bigger demand on block which will utilmately generate more dollars per block so hashrate will follow

Are you reading what I’m saying?

2025-07-27 17:47:58 UTC

Why don’t we enable extra block space only to be used for the necessary scripting needed to support L2?
That way we could:
- continue having space for L1 transactions unaffected
- continue having nodes that only check l1 if they want to
- extra space would provide dedicated block market to increase security budget
Currently we are making below 2k usd on frees… it’ll need to go up to 15million per bitcoin to support current revenue per block
Pretty sure we will hit that value one day but even if we do, it may still fall short on revenue per block so finding newer revenue sources cannot be underestimated and what I’m suggesting would give bitcoin added features through other layers

Tether could perfectly run a mint since it’s already centralized stablecoin at least doing ecash mint would allow users to stay private from their view

2025-07-20 18:32:07 UTC

kinda like cashu, I installed it on two different apps and started moving money around. I do see the potential there where we own the money, private etc... yet I'm struggling to understand what would make it a real alternative for regular users
@nprofile…j6zy can the protocol be extended to support for instance USDT on Cashu? if that's the case then.. having the possibility to exchange P2P BTC with USDT on Cashu privately could make it powerful
for pure btc only, given that you would only have a fraction of pocket money on cashu as mints are centralized, I see complex having money from so many mints even if there is cross mint swaps. but if you add stuff like bringing USDT on cashu then I think it becomes more interesting
