That's like building a wood-frame house in a termite-infested woods, then complaining the earth is unstable when the house topples over.
In all seriousness, though, I hope you and your loved ones weren't impacted by any of these exploits. These termites are getting aggressive.

"Thank you for waiting" makes a huge difference from "sorry I'm late".
The way these responses shift the energy away from a tone of "I'm waiting for permission" or "I seek your validation" -- and into recognition of the value-for-value behind any meaningful exchange -- make for great examples of what sets a gentleman apart from a commoner.

Yes, you are correct. I suppose my analogy missed the mark.
What I mean to say is: The Coldcard breach was not a failure of Bitcoin. In fact, the network worked exactly as designed: private keys were able to move funds. It was just a failure of one very poorly designed and tested vault that secured some portion of the property on the network.
What I hear from your 19-stocks-out-of-20-assets example is: "You should let somebody else hold 95% of your assets. so you can't be wiped out by an unforeseen event with any one of them." But in that case you're just one counterparty risk away from losing 95% of your assets: government enforcement.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but if that USB interactive debugger could allow for extrication of private key materials to an internet-connected machine, that would mean compromising of that machine would enable a remote attacker to steal funds.
But the leap from firmware-level inspection to "my keys are on the internet" is a big one.

I think you're conflating two kinds of concentration risk: asset concentration (what most investors think of), and security/threat model concentration.
What just went down with Coldcard is like having your life savings with a single bank. Then it turns out that bank was far less secure than they claimed to be, they get breached, assets are gone and your savings are gone with it.
No victim of a loss like that would say "well clearly I should have saved some of my money in Zimbabwe dollars, some in Turkish lyra, some in Argentinian pesos, etc".
The wake-up call is simply "I should not have trusted it all to a single bank."

I got sick of transplanting Sparrow wallet labels while emptying every Coldcard I have, so I decided to automate it.
https://github.com/Launchframe/coldcard-panic-drain
**What is this?**
- Migrate all funds + labels from one Sparrow wallet to another, one UTXO at a time (thanks nvk)
- Works with any P2WPKH (bc1q...) wallet (other script compatibility coming soon)
- Generates a recommended schedule + .ics file for importing reminders into your calendar of choice (use --dnd-start / --dnd-end for quiet hours)
- Optional broadcast feature to automatically send per schedule
- Privacy: fee + schedule jitter to avoid obvious patterns; fully offline standard operation, with auto-broadcaster limited to localhost or *.local node RPC addresses (.onion available with use of the
- Coin control: avoids address reuse
**Have you tested it?**
I used the current tip of main (commit 606b7a6) on a Macbook to drain dozens of UTXOs from two separate Coldcard wallets.
**UX**
1. Plan: analyzes the source wallet and destination wallet to generate a transaction batch and schedule.
2. Generate: create PSBTs and load them onto microSD.
3. Airgap: double-check each destination address and sign each transaction on your Coldcard.
4. Broadcast: use Sparrow to broadcast each transaction when you see the calendar reminder; or use --broadcast-due to automatically broadcast on schedule.
**Stack**
Python + pip for execution
Java for Sparrow interop
**Additional coverage**
1. Operating systems: this is untested on Windows and Linux
2. Other software wallets: Electrum, Nunchuck, etc are not currently supported
3. Address versions: P2WPKH only is supported for now, though I may expand support soon
4. Derivation paths: currently reads the destination addresses from Sparrow wallet file (.mv.db) and fails if it's not P2WPKH
**CAVEATs**
1. I built this with the help of Claude and Composer. While it's functionally validated, I have not manually reviewed all code.
2. These are real transactions. Please PLEASE check every output address. The script makes a reasonable attempt to confirm your ownership of the destination wallet, but failure to check every PBST destination can result in IRREVERSIBLE LOSS OF FUNDS.
3. I've added safeguards to discourage agents from lifting wallet info to the cloud, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND asking an agent to run this script as that will put your Sparrow wallets (xpubs, derivation paths, etc) in context. Agentic setup of the script workspace and discussing strategy (timing, fees, etc) should be safe, though.
DMs and PRs are welcome.

So pizza never was scarce after all

2026-05-22 16:11:55 UTC

gm and happy Day, nostr!
I had some fun with the numbers, since everybody likes to talk about Laszlo's 10k BTC pizza in dollar terms.
** May 22, 2010 **
• 10,000 BTC got Laszlo $41 in pizza-denominated terms
• Closing price of gold at the time: $1,200 per ounce
• Using the pizza-USD-exchange rate: 292,683 BTC/ounce
• BTC/gold price: just under 0.1 mg gold per BTC
** Bitcoin Pizza Day 2026 **
Today, 1 BTC is worth just about about 17 ounces of gold [https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/BTCXAU]
The money spent on those 2 pizzas carries the same purchasing power of a whopping 10,632 **POUNDS** of gold.
But that doesn't mean we should just hodl. Laszlo transcends whale status because he did **the work**, and in doing so he became the first "block" in proving Bitcoin's real world use case. Not to mention his work spreading adoption by writing the first MacOS client for Core.

I disagree. Bitcoin does not live in a vacuum. There are other projects they can move to. We kicked Vitalik off of Bitcoin when he realized it would be a "hostile environment" for his needs.
> So the proposal tightens some superficial limits but risks worsening the one part of the system that actually matters for long-term decentralisation: UTXO size, not raw block weight.
Maybe you're right. That's the BIP-110 proposal is a **temporary** soft fork. A year's worth of damage is a small price to pay for **doing SOMETHING** about this mess.

Bitcoin's history constitutes its network effect, but its language and rules constitute its protocol. TCP/IP, for example, was invented in the 70s, and was built upon for decades to become the protocol stack for the modern internet.
Were more efficient protocols proposed since then? Sure. But none were powerful enough improvements to convince the majority of builders and investors away from TCP/IP. Instead, we built upon the "good enough" protocol in a backward-compatible way.
Nowadays I don't hear many people say that we need new versions of TCP/IP, or that the early adopters were too rude. It's because of the toxic conviction of those early adopters that we have a generally accepted standard for digital communication in the first place.

"Profit-driven tech platforms ensure that bad actors and extremists reign, and we’ve allowed tech oligarchs to dismantle all vestiges of a shared reality."

CC "rewards" are a mirage. Issuers offer these programs to hook consumers, then pass the costs on to merchants in the form of higher interchange fees. Consumers learn to hunt for the highest rewards CCs, leaving businesses with little choice but to accept rewards card swipes that cost them substantially more than a non-rewards card.
Businesses naturally raise their prices to compensate for the additional margin being stolen by CC networks, but few adjust pricing based on payment method (cash vs CC). This results in a regressive wealth transfer from non-card (typically poorer) households to card-using (typically wealthier) households.
In return, rewards card holders get walled-garden points that require the bank's permission to use (aka shitcoins). This often destroys economic value by transforming the most salable good (cash) into a much less salable form (siloed points redeemable for gift cards, travel, etc), except in the case of cash-back rewards.
It's just fiat with a few extra steps. And this doesn't even touch on the matter of predatory 25%+ APRs.
