> You havent entered with an open mind
What kind of a comment is that ? I know what's going on in my head thank you. You and GOS were spreading some shit about Exodus Privacy, I happen to know for a fact they aren't involved in any kind of smear campaign agains Graphene OS. When you were confronted you went on a rant about the instance they are hosted on. I mean what the actual fuck ? I'm the one being negative ? I tried to understand your point, ffs

I'm not upset, it's just such a shame. I'm tired of dealing with the negativity, I entered this discussion with an open mind and all I get is snarky remarks and an endless stream of pure conspiracy theory.

Yes there are.
Just throwing names around, accusing a nonprofit run by school teachers of running a smear campaign, providing links to vaguely related individuals and their public rants…
It seems kinda unhinged, don't you think ?
Even the fact that the hates comes mostly from French Mastodon, like, I can't believe the claim that you see less hateful content on the infamous birdsite, they basically don't have any moderation.

Shit, I even sold my previous phone to get a second hand pixel. I was committed.

I think I'm done with this debate. It is more and more difficult to follow your reasoning, and this kind of paranoia and baseless accusations makes me, in turn, paranoid that you won't have my best interests in mind.
I don't want to go back to another smartphone OS, I think I had my share. From now on it will be dumb phones or an iphone locked in a drawer for banking apps.
GrapheneOS was my last hope of using a smartphone daily.

Also, your claim that they (I guess framasoft) ever said in a public manner, using their platform, that GrapheneOS is not a privacy project unusable by regular people remains unproven
Maybe Gael Duval did, maybe murena - I don't care, they are a company and did not treat the open source ecosystem very well, I can't vouch for them
But I'd bet money on framasoft not ever being part of a smear campaign against GrapheneOS

Would you say there is a group behind the french nonprofits of the open source community that specifically targets GrapheneOS then ? Who would that benefit ? I considered myself part of this movement, and usually we weren't listened much by the general public, so it would be a pretty poor vehicle for a disinformation campaign

I get that but I don't think the instance is complicit in this, or even "problematic". Any harassment would have been quickly deleted, I don't think this single case of someone posting about their misguided opinions on a podcast constitutes targeted harassment of GrapheneOS by the French nonprofit framasoft

In fact when googling for "framasoft + grapheneos" I see:
1. positive coverage of grapheneOS on framalibre
2. unrelated articles on random individual blogs about GrapheneOS being unfriendly with other open-source projects

Yes I read it, but this post is not affiliated with framasoft in any way, it's just on their instance, anyone can post anything on any instance, I guess there's a lot of GrapheneOS hate on bluesky and Xitter for example

I'm even more confused, who did an interview, framasoft ? On their own website you are mentioned (in French) as privacy and security focused

well they essentially accused me of not reading/ignoring information while accusing framapiaf/framasoft of deliberately allowing hate campaigns against them, that seems pretty unhinged tbh
It's also shocking to me because up to this point I always agreed with everything they posted, maybe I'm just taking it the wrong way

Calm down, I simply missed the previous toots, I'm at work right now
It's just so much, I mean I've been following framasoft and it's a nonprofit assembled by teachers, it's so far from being a hateful group that would run targeted harassment campaigns, I'm starting to question your judgment on certain topics

I think the mastodon instance they are on is unrelated to the matter we were discussing ?
I am very disappointed at how you handled this interaction, you are misinterpreting the mission of Exodus and bashing them when they're not even responsible for their integration in /e/OS, they even revoked their access some time ago
They provide educational material, I mean, they're doing great work, what's the problem ?

I'd like to add it's entirely possible they are brigaded by some of the GrapheneOS community, but that tend to happen with all software projects and is not a good reason to dismiss the security concerns (in an entirely different area, linux gaming discussion boards are frequently spammed by Bazzite fanboys - it should not be used as a reason to stop innovating and taking ideas from the project)

I've rarely been on the forums tbh. But I know privacy and security concerns are not taken that seriously.
The default install still communicates with google and contains closed-source software that communicates with third-parties.
/e/OS is still better than nothing mind you, but I get the impression they're not doing enough, as if marketing to non-technical users willing to avoid Google products for ideological reasons was their primary objective.

I do not think talking to them is sufficient. I will never be taken seriously enough, especially compared to experts on the matter.

I disagree. I am an /e/OS user and investor, and think they do not take security seriously enough.
Someone has to talk about it.
