First impression of #miso, #haskell's answer to React, is very good. Clean interface, good documentation so far. Let's see how easy it is to integrate existing JS code so I don't have to reinvent too many wheels.

Just got back from a conference where people were reinventing #Nix/#guix/#spack once more (openly pondering over how to implement some sort of "layered build cache" and how that would look, which was a bit funny).

Not sure what to think about that to be honest. I think the devs from the company mean well and possibly just skipped researching? But then they are building yet another software from source repo. It feels audacious.

I've been writing pseudo #haskell "hell"[1] shell scripts for a while now. The ability to easily add command-line options and the simplicity of the language is refreshing. And almost everything is better than bash.

Error messages are abysmal, and a bigger stdlib would be great, but nowhere does it say it's complete or ready yet, sothat's fine.

[1] https://github.com/chrisdone/hell

New (Pixel) phone. #GrapheneOS or Google? I think for me it will come down to the fear of banking apps not working anymore.

I _could_ go GrapheneOS and then go back to Google if it doesn't work, I guess. _Or_ put GrapheneOS on my _old_ phone, try it out and then switch on the new one as well? Not sure how much work it is to reinstall all apps and the OS ~3 times.

Tough also to fight inertia and just keep Google.

My #nixos moment of the day: patched my compositor (cosmic) to disable animations. Didn't need to know anything about how to compile or install this thing, didn't need to know which version it is, and if I don't want it anymore, I just comment it out of my .nix file. Try that with any other distro.

I have two comments:

1. The theme/style is _horrible_. The contrast is way too low for me, there are line breaks at weird locations and things like italics are way too "in your face".
2. Take with a grain of salt, please: You probably wanted #emacs + org-mode from the start, not typst. Syntax, handling, mobile should all just fit for you.

I'm using #emacs project.el and ido. I just confirmed that "project-find-file" offers no completion candidates anymore if the repo is bigger than 10000 files (exactly). So somewhere in the code, there is a 10000 limit. Not sure if it's project.el or ido - probably the latter. How to find this though...ido.el and project.el both don't contain "10000", so there's that. :D

I'm a little excited about native #elm via elm-run, but I do doubt the decision to make exiting the program a simple effect. We will end up with accidentally non-terminating programs that way. A strange problem to have, never seen that in other languages so far.

I'm now using #kde and I love how polished it is and how much of it just worked, compared to my previous #hyprland-based "all custom" setup. But man. Coming from a tiling WM to something non-tiling is _rough_. I've tried the KDE tiling solutions but it's obviously a crutch. Not sure how I proceed now.
I definitely have less motivation to build all the crap around the WM (disks, monitors, ...). But I don't think there is much of a middle-ground.

I want to control how much I read from it, depending on the circumstances. However, these circumstances (the boolean arguments) are not read from user input, but are always specified in the code itself.

Meaning, I might want a "compile-time boolean" so that when I specify "true" to the loader fn, I can be sure that I get "T" instead of "Maybe T" back in the result Struct.

I also have no good "grep in project" solution, as consult doesn't play with ido. I've switched to helm for that now and am pretty happy with that.

Finally got a good use-case for property-based tests (PBT) in #haskell. Had a function that really enforced an invariant. Given a number, using test to be tested function will output a string that's less than 'n' chars long. And wow did PBT help!
