Tell him to swap out the concord. His funds should be safe in the meantime but there’s zero reason to leave it there. If you lost a key you would never leave it so there was no third option. That’s what he has right now. Replace the CC with a third key. Even a software key is fine for a decent multisig.

Imagine thinking that one achieves independence from a totalitarian ruler without paying some price for it?
No volatility, no risk, no days of losses, no period of stagnancy, no regulatory risk, no institutions fighting back. Just skipping through meadows and green candles and then throwing in the towel the moment the wind blows.
Bitcoin isn't about getting rich, if that's why you're here then you've lost the plot. Bitcoin is about not being beholden to the waste and corruption of a class of people who live off of monetary fraud. Bitcoin is about PROVING that they cannot dilute us for their wars, they cannot counterfeit for their subsidies, they cannot indebt us and our children and their children to get the lie of "free stuff" today.
Bitcoin is about independence and the risk and costs that come with it. We may get wealthy IF we achieve independence. But we will never get it asking for permission or waiting for green candles before even taking a stance.
Imagine if the American founders had said "we pledge our lives as long as we are comfortable, our fortunes as long as they only go up, and our sacred honor as long as we only benefit from this quest. Otherwise we apologize and ask the King's approval."
Some people may not understand that this is THE battle, and maybe they have no idea how or where they are paying for the corruption of their own society. But they are paying for it nonetheless. Bitcoin is the solution and it's not because its going to go up every day you hold it. Quite literally the opposite in fact. When we take away the power to dilute the money, we force them to come straight to our door with their guns and demand what we have earned directly.
Bitcoin's mission is to destroy the illusion that they are giving us something for free, and prove that the state is a system of violence and the central bank is a system of covert theft at an unheard of scale.
That is the purpose of this tool. It is *independence* through technological rebellion. Not wealth. It is *risking our wealth* for a chance at ending the era of central banking and infinite debts and a world where kids grow up with the poisonous and absurd notion that even as technology becomes more advanced and our capacity to produce grows exponentially, somehow everything still gets "naturally" more expensive and wealth becomes more concentrated.
Nothing could be further from the obvious truth. It is govt debt, the central bank money printer, and the counterfeit class that huddles around them like leeches that suffocate society of what would otherwise be stable and consistent growth in our general prosperity, time, and meaning.
If you are here only because of 50% returns and leave when it falls 25%... we are not the same.

Mining pool centralization is a very isolated and limited risk. There’s tons that cannot be changed or isn’t at risk because of this. It’s simply a vulnerability to a certain class of problem.
To compare that to the nature of fiat and the myriad ways we are getting F’d is like comparing someone who keeps you in a cage and whips you every time you don’t do exactly what they say, with someone who throws eggs on your house when they get frustrated and inconveniences you for an hour or so.
Centralization in mining pools is a class of a problem that lives in a totally separate universe from the problems of fiat.

Nothing i said made any claim at all about whether you should run a pruned versus a full node.
The data above is exactly the same no matter what you choose. So if you feel that strongly about pruned nodes, don't run one. Nobody anywhere in any way said you should run one or the other so i don't know what you're wigging out about.

Pruning occurs after validation. It's purely a storage choice and has nothing to do with whether you download the entire chain or not. The IBD operates exactly the same with the pruned node simply dropping block data earlier than a certain threshold after validation and keeping the UTXO set.
In other words, it's literally no different.

That seems like a lot of work to demonstrate the obvious. 😆 I mean just off the top of my head I can see dozens of different motion and muscles that are activated, you have to actually picture the shape and flow of the letter and the word, predict the spacing of the words, etc - there’s numerous things that typing is explicitly supposed to be a shortcut for, thus those things wouldn’t be activated.
I guess I’m not trying to hate, but it seems a little “duh” to me, lol. And when it comes to remembering what you wrote vs typed, it also makes sense that you would retain it a little better when written specifically because tying it to a more intricate and explicit motion actually sets things into the mind more concretely. If every letter and word is different, there’s a lot of pathways being fired. When typing everything is just the same tap motion.

I’ve considered a few different paths, and that’s actually a really interesting one I hadn’t considered, basically running a node professionally and using the podcast as its “public face” so to speak. That’s a clever idea actually.
But generally speaking, 99.5% of podcasts probably do not make meaningful money. I had 2 good years but trying to squeeze money out of it is a serious battle, *especially* when you don’t just take whoever comes asking you to shill or take money from guests to come on the pod. Like
You said, it doesn’t feel too different from squeezing juice from a rock (gonna save this and use it later. Will not credit you for it, fyi 🤣).
I’ve been making a lot of changes because I’m shifting the show towards Guy’s Takes and away from grass. We feel the reads were sort of in a sweet spot when it comes to newcomers wanting to learn about Bitcoin, and when it was hard to digest written content. But we seem past that zone. I was considering reviving the “zap for reads” thing I did for a bit and thought was really fun. And then keeping reads only to that list and do them more sparingly. Then the main takes are just me trying to give a more genuine “Bitcoiner who actually lives on bitcoin every day” take on things when so many podcasters and commentators literally don’t touch it. I saw someone talking about them finally going to setup a node and I just went full wtf. I won’t call them out because that’s awesome they are going to start one up, but damn they’d never run a node before and are spouting their opinion every day, probably about spam wars, and how people should use it, and hold their keys, etc.
Don’t want to throw shade, but still, lol. Anyway that’s where my head has been and it’s been stressing me because basically the other option is to let it go and I don’t want to do that. But it’s hard to make it worthwhile at the same time, especially when I *have* to make other frustrating and time consuming projects make money in order to be able to keep doing it.
Right now I’ve been spending 2 years on a really big bet, and on something that I think is super valuable for everyone. Let’s hope it’s not just another really expensive thing that doesn’t make its money back 🤣. Just keep moving forward amiright?

I’m probably just being sensitive because you calling me a “paid influencer” when all I do is turn down sponsors and I’ve lost money on the show for a year and a half honestly makes me feel like shit. There is no false mental model more destructive than the idea that prices are supposed increase over time.
All prices should fall if the economy is more productive. Indefinitely. It is literally only because trillions of dollars are counterfeited from nothing every year, and our time, living standards, home affordability, and critical resources get sucked out of the economy to pay for it that things get more expensive.

It’s not a distributed network at all though. Pubky is a social network on a central server. The identity and authentication tool is what they are talking about when they says it’s decentralized/dsitributed.
Some of their marketing is a mess though and I think they do a generally poor job of explaining how the user relates to what they’ve built. Everything they discuss is about architecture and not the user experience.

I think we pay politicians nothing, disallow any power or ability to distribute funds in any way, and make it an exclusively volunteer system where people who actually care are the only ones who show up.

For those who don’t want to do the math, that’s a 97.5% loss for the owners.
This was done at auction, extended 3 times, and with the sellers having to lower the reserve price just so the sale would go through…
People have no idea how much this could be affecting the banking sector, but has been allowed to go unadjusted on balance sheets. There are banks with *enormous* exposure to commercial real estate, and so much of it looks like this.
I don’t know the timeline because it depends on tons of govt and fed “guarantees” and reporting rules which have been altered to help cover this (and a lot of other problems) up, but this will blow up at some point.

Still not getting it. You CANNOT have trustless payments without a monetary asset that is free of state control. Otherwise all of the plethora of precursors to Bitcoin that didn’t create their own monetary unit would’ve worked fine and we never would’ve needed the bitcoin unit.
Example: the ecash protocol was invented almost 2 decades prior to bitcoin, but what good was it if there was no permissionless monetary base to implement it on.
We are still talking past each other. You keep saying “the web is so important” and giving examples of how badly we need the web. And I am AGREEING with that, but explaining that without TCP/IP the web is meaningless and doesn’t exist.
