Probably hoping for some disaster capitalism. Where they can pick up the ruins of other people's lives for cheap.

So not tackling any real problems then?
Nothing on the climate crisis that saw Europe burning this summer?

Ask you MP to attend the parliamentary debate on nationalising water.
"Water is basically a microcosm of everything that’s broken in Britain.
Corporate greed, climate failure, and democratic decay, all in one glass. Rivers poisoned for profit. Bills are soaring while dividends fly out the door. Droughts and floods are hitting harder every year.
While the people footing the bill have no say whatsoever.
The biggest lever we can pull on is political" Clive Lewis MP

I now donate to the @npub1tvx…xvrp

They seem to be the only ones effectively fighting back to uphold human rights in the UK.

I have donated to Amnesty international for years. I have informed them that I wish to cancel my ongoing donation due to their lack of principles and capitulation to anti trans hate.

"The far right wants Europeans to believe they must choose between staying cool and tackling climate change.
They do not.
Europe's answer to a hotter future is not more hot air. It is more clean electricity, smarter infrastructure and the confidence to build on what the EU Green Deal started.
In a hotter world, investing in the EU Green Deal and electrification is not a luxury. It is Europe's insurance policy." #ClimateCrisis

They finally got AI to think like a human! That human happens to be the drunk guy mansplaining in the pub who is confidently wrong about half of everything he says. Then forgets what he was talking about. Is probably a fascist, definitely a racist. Claims he never said that anyway and passively aggressively apologizes, but not really.

Goodbye Anthony Stewart Head. You were a significant part of my teenage years as Giles in Buffy. You will always be the best surrogate father on TV. You battled demons, got knocked out a lot but were always there when you were needed. I will miss you. 😭

I was first in family to go to university. Coming from a working class background I never thought I would be a university lecturer. I feel much more at home in a post 92 than a Russell group university, as more of the staff and students have a similar background.

The students said if AI did it then how do they show what they have learned and get feedback to improve. Another student said GenAI is terrible anyway so there's no guarantee it will get it right. One said that if she puts the effort in then it would be unfair for other students to short cut with AI and get away with it. They seemed quite aware of problems and pitfalls if using AI. One mentioned AI psychosis and how harmful it is to mental health. /2 https://youtu.be/MW6FMgOzklw?si=RrnR433fq2gtHBNf

Had a discussion with students this week about technology in education. We discussed when technology is useful and when it is harmful. I also asked if new technology is always better. We talked about critical digital literacy and social construction of technology. I asked what the purpose of assessment was. Answers included; to see what we know, to show how well we understand the topic, to demonstrate what we have learned. I asked if it was ok to get AI to do it. They said no... 1/

Libro.fm is much better than Audible for audio books as you can download the file to keep and use in any other player, and they support local bookshops!

I was on the fence about it, since I saw a clip were Varric looked really different, like he'd had a mid life crisis, dyed his hair and had a face lift. Loved all the other games as they had great depth and story. What your impression so far?

We are probably in the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy under places to avoid.
The really rough part of the galaxy is Orion's Spur in the Milky way, steer clear from Humans, they have not developed faster than light space travel yet and are a very immature species.

Tell Ofgem to abolish standing charges on energy.
Ofgem is coming under mounting pressure to scrap the standing charge, and has asked for input from consumers and other stakeholders to help them decide what to do.
The consultation closes on Friday 20th September - its time to remove standing charges and make energy pricing cheaper, fairer and greener. #OFGEM #energy #StandingCharges

I wonder if it's a good idea to send her some useful books on economics that might steer her in the right direction. Ha-joon Chang has some good stuff. Plus, The Spirit Level, Peak inequality and Why we can't afford the rich come to mind. #economics
