Great to see nostr on the desktop progressing!
I'm not familiar with the Omarchy bar, but I'd like to use it on other linux distro (debian) with the linux standard backgound-running app dock format (what networkmanager uses for example)
How is the code organized? Did you by any chance separated the omarch-related code?

Exactly, that's a well scoped gap, and I hope napplet's are what are going to fill this gap. Currently there are many implementations out there, but not much cooperation between them. If all this effort could go into developing a re-usable, configurable widget, that would be a great win!

Guilty here. I'm about to release a notes synchronizer webapp, https://nostropus.com - and I see the banned messages since today.
It is not spam, but my older notes being copied onto damus relay. I understand it's tricky to detect such behaviour, and maybe this is not what you intend to run your relay for.
When syncing notes the current code does a back-off when rate limited, but retries and tries to find out the effective limit rate.
Do you want me to remove the "fix" button from damus relay? Or shall I use your configured rate when uploading to damus relay?

OS is the choice I made in 1998: Debian :) (+vim and codium and a nicely configured konsole for the CLI heavy workflow I have)
I'm back to Debian from 8yrs of Arch linux usage, for the reason that it's not an operating system, it's a continuously rolling wheel that has its ups and downs and I'm old enough to respect peace.
Might move to omarchy if nostr will have more native apps and services, omarchy becomes more nostry and possibly a little less rolling-releasy.

Not specifically Cashu, what I'm trying to say is that just by reading the kind 1 events the perception of the big picture is usually shinier than the reality. Cashu is just an example, White Noise or Primal are others. Or lightning.
The dynamics of kind 1 space is so that individuals will only take on few battles because nobody has capacity to fight on many fronts. This means arguments about broader topics are either superficial or just trolling, or when real conclusions happen, these are not accessible / searchable to the public.
Communities, if they are organized around specific topics, could together build knowledge base, have a real voice, they can build reputation over time. E.g. if a community of professional UX designers / developers / testers come together to form an organizaton for better UX on nostr, they (as an organization) can publish their educated opinion about apps, tools usability, and by time they could gain authority in this topic.
So I'm using the community as a broader term, not the classic feed-oriented usecase, but also extending with common knowledge base, clear roles, internal finances if needed, etc. like a real world organization.

I hear cashu here and there, everywhere, all the time.
And yet, nobody mentioned V2, a braking change that suddenly broke all nonactive cashu projects.
I might be wrong and just have missed some posts, but still... The following conclusion of mine comes from many such situations:
Are we in the mud of honey? This is one of the mistakes a community can make: being overpolite and focusing only on the good, because nobody wants to take the risk of reputation degrade by mentioning annoyances publicly about anything related to bitcoin.
This is inherently a problem of a society of individuals. This is why we need proper communities on nostr (and not just community software, we have enough of that).
Up for a debate. Change my mind.

We have tried whitenoise 3 times with a couple of my friends (5). We are techies. Group chat didn't work. Not once.
In our opinion it is a case of popularizing a pre-alpha software as beta, which erodes faith in such abstract new technologies that we can't even debug ourselves because of its complexity.
Honestly, bitmessage protocol with randomx PoW algorithm would be enough for all nostritches to communicate among us with insane amounts of privacy.

I love that I can just clone git repos intuitively, using this command:

I know who the developer is (and his nip5), I know the project name, the rest is automatically filled in. I love that I don't have to copy/paste any nevent or naddr.

Communities are by nature socially centralized. Therefore the right design in my opinion is to have its content bound to pubkeys rather than server addresses. The data can still be redundant if community members take care about archival and hosting.
For public communities - like opensource development - this is definitely the way and the data should be widely replicated.
This is a key property of #communikeys.
My humble opinion about privacy is: if you need personally, generate a new pubkey for the kind of interaction you want to be hiding.

I bumped into this spec and reading it, and I will come back later. Actually, I'm quite happy that things happen in the groups space. We need that. I'm not satisfied with either nip29 or nip72 or relays-as-groups concepts.
Do you have a working example application I can look at?
I am also thinkering on reforming nostr groups, and have drafted a spec, and some implementation, seen on https://tribewiki.org/Tribe - feel free to steal anything from it!

The basic idea of nsite is to have a mapping from file paths in the URL to blossom hashes. This way you can have nice URLs and if you change a file you don't need to update all links pointing to it.

Can you elaborate on the replay attack vector you mention in the README which affects the BUD-01 auth spec? What's the risk / scope of the attack? Can you provide an example?
Since `created_at` is part of the auth event, in my opinion it's easy to limit its scope on the server side to almost irrelevant by checking if the event is in the near past. Or would it break the functionality somehow?

For one, we have relays, they have pubkeys, and yet, we still rely on the certificate chain.
In a better world, relay lists should contain the relay host (or better, its IP) AND its pubkey, and those pubkeys should be directly used in diffie-hellmann key exchange when initializing secure connection.
The problem with this approach is that there is - to my knowledge - no technology embedded in browsers by default that achieves it effectively.

I'm a plebs.app maxi, this is going to be huge.
Actually nostr is very well positioned for this use-case with being inherently social + blossom servers becoming very common these days.
A way to monetize could be a service that provides extra bandwidth for popular podcasts around the release time when the load exceeds the blossom servers' capacity. Alternatively this task could be done in a crowdsourced way: allow anyone with bandwidth earn sats by providing the extra bandwidth, and you can take a cut for managing the connections. So many ideas and possibilities to explore.
I'm planning to release one episode of a podcast for my local community in January to shill nostr, and see how ready people are for this kind of goodness.

Primal doesn't create a relay list event for you. (kind 10002)
You can use jumble.social -> settings -> relay settings to set a few relays
wss://relay.damus.io
wss://relay.primal.net
wss://nos.lol
Then, when you see your profile on njump.me, it should display exactly those same relays. ("seen on")
A product targeted at newbies should do this for you. There is a (good) reason why many people dislike primal. They are good in zero-config startup, but fail in a few other areas miserably.

I am developing a library (https://www.npmjs.com/package/nostr-tribes) with the least amount of dependencies. It already depends on nostr-tools (this is its only dependency), and it is not the right time to add a new 8.7megs dependency to ndk (memory cache adapter depends on ndk main package).
In my mind this module should be more like a package that others depend on, instead of a package that depends on code that supports cashu, nutzaps, nip5 and so on.

I need a simple JS nostr in-memory event store. Filters should be supported. e.g. events = eventstore.req({kinds: [1,6], authors: [pubkey1, pubkey2]})
window.nostrdb is good, but I want it to work in nodejs.
nostrify/NSet is good, but I need it to understand the filter API.
There is a test relay, in-memory (dunno the name), but it listens on a port, I don't need that.
Any ideas?
I am kind of clueless where I should seek such information, but that's a story for another day.

Yeah, in your case it's easier to create all the nip-52 events with your own pubkey, and see where it goes adoption-wise.
After this, the delegation thing will be difficult, because if you delegate a meetup to an external pubkey, you need to
- have a UI for them to create those events (flockstr?)
- need to implement fetching the nostr events to display those on the einundzwanzig homepage

In the very simplest case, it could be one profile per meetup. The profile creates nip-52 calendar events, that's the linking between the meetup and the organized events.
Some other rules:
#meetup tag is mandatory in bio.
Organizer npub must be specified as a profile field
Then all we need is a client that fetches #meetup profiles from relays and displays them and their calendar events.
Just an idea. Not sure if we need more features than this.

ha jól sejtem, a custodial lightning walletek is elég kemény reguláció alá fognak esni.
Tehát marad az, hogy lesznek szuverén lightning nodeok, amiken managelve van a liquiditás, a channelek, uptime és backup. Ezt persze a többség nem fogja meglépni.
Várom már, hogy egy ilyen lightning node tulajdonosa meg tudja engedni a cimboráinak, hogy használják a nodeot, esetleg némi sat-ért tranzakciónként.
Így maradhatunk mindannyian szuverének.

Did you have a deliberate decision why the tree is stored not as Nostr events?
If the invites were nostr events, integrating the tree into clients or e.g. blossom server would be easier and more detached, gnocci like architecture.
