A very clear view of how Russia attacked the main mall in Kryvyi Rih during the day, with jet powered shahed drones. After the main attack they did a follow-up attack awhile later to try to kill first responders. So far 15 confirmed murdered, with another 130 injured.

I've been on the exact same street the minibus was attacked on. Zaporizhia isn't some war-torn town. It's a nice place with big malls, good restaurants, and beautiful parks. Hell, when I was on that street I was hanging out with friends riding rental scooters from one end of the city to the other:

The only problem with Zaporizhia is the closest Russians are about 25km away. Just barely within the range of their best FPV drones.

I filmed this about a month ago; for his safety I had to wait until he got out of hospital and left Kyiv to actually publish the video.
I didn't know it at the time. But it turns out I actually spoke to Kanyuk and another soldier at his position a few months ago. They had a problem with their generator, and I was helping them debug it. In the end I found a replacement generator small enough to fly into forward positions on a vampire drone, a technique that we used for a different forward position that had also lost its generator.

Obviously, attacking any Russian economic target helps with the war. About half of all Russian tax dollars go to the invasion. Wildberries warehouses are worth tens of billions of dollars, and being extremely flammable, are easy targets.
On top of this, Wildberries was a major logistics provider to the Russian military. They sold everything soldiers needed in large quantities, other than certain regulated stuff like guns, ammo, and explosives. They _did_ sell drones, weapons accessories, etc.

It's a very clever design: since these large AA guns are aimed by IR camera anyway, the simulator is simply be a tablet with an IMU and trigger switch. The IMU figures out where the gun is pointed, and the software simulates where the bullets would go if you had been shooting for real. The tablet itself just straps on in front of the screen the IR camera would be connected to.
_Far_ cheaper than a purpose built simulator. With the advantage that they can train while on position, whenever nothing is happening:

That guy was a top part of the Russian military industrial complex that had me sitting through 40 ballistic missiles attacking Kyiv tonight. As far as I know the closest impact to me was about 1000m away. Many of those ballistic missiles were launched by planes running on engines that exist due to his work.

So many refineries in Russia have been hit that even Moscow is facing fuel rationing. Farming is beginning to get affected too: shortages and high prices are begining to stop farmers from planting fields, which hopefully will lead to food shortages in Russia.
A big reason why Germany surrendered was they were out of fuel and starving.
My guess is we've got another two more years.

This is a new development. Previously Russia didn't have the range, and wasn't close enough, to threaten Kramatorsk with FPV drones much. Unfortunately this is gradually changing.
Friends of mine are in that area, holding Russia back. They're the ones keeping that mother and child safe. Obviously, solar panels are going to more sunlight into heat than highly reflective surfaces; the _study_ is not necessarily wrong. But the dumbed down journalistic description of it is clearly dumb.
The right way to describe this would be to say that 15% to 25% is turned into electricity, and the remainder of the 95% is turned into heat. That respects what's actually happening in an easy to understand way.

Solar will of course turn a higher % into heat than many highly reflective surfaces. So the overall concept may work. But not with the numbers quoted.

It's hilarious how easy it is to debunk this article. Typical solar panels convert about 15% to 25% of the incoming light into electricity while operating. That's energy that is removed from that location entirely, and re-released somewhere else. This is one reason why putting solar panels on your roof can keep your house cooler.
It is physically impossible for efficiently operating solar panels to absorb 95% of the incoming sunlight.

It's a bit of a giveaway, I just like to make the point that that is not normal.
INTERVIEWER: Well what sort of standards is this C code written with?
COLLINS: Oh very rigorous software engineering standards.

COLLINS: Well it's not supposed to crash, for a start.
INTERVIEWER: What other things?
COLLINS: Well, there are regulations governing which functions you're allowed to call.

On a bigger scale, this is total nonsense. The biggest funders of war and violence right now are Russia and Iran. In both cases their ultimate primary funding source is oil and gas revenue; in the case of Russia a lesser funding source is the Russian government's ability to force companies to simply work for free in exchange for future promises of income that both sides know will probably never be paid. Fiat currency has nothing to do with that, and Bitcoin only fixes that problem to the extent that it allows societies to rise up.
But in Russia the population genuinely supports war. That's probably true for most of Iran too. They're infested with Islamic psychopaths.
Even if you think the US and other Western countries are the cause of "war", the argument still fails: the US only spends a small part of total GDP on their military. A Bitcoin standard doesn't change anything there.

Good. Trump's track record on diplomacy with Iran and others is bad. It's far better to solve this with military force and defeat Iran entirely.
The biggest challenge is that a decent % of the Iranian people are supporting the US. So ethics is demanding a more costly surgical approach than you be appropriate for, e.g., Russia or Gaza.

I also managed to do some interviews with some of the soldiers and foreign recruits of the unit. Flash Battalion is an English speaking one, so mainly from the US and UK/Commonwealth. It's telling how many of the recruits are conservative. One was even a self described MAGA Republican; another from New Zealand had previously worked in the gun industry in manufacturing. Which of course is now basically dead in NZ. Those videos should come out soonish once their editors finish.
