idk but why would he tell me to tell people there was a bug but not fix it

2026-08-11 15:05:16 UTC

- reply

he did not tell me anything about the bug except that users of my guide were not affected

2026-08-11 14:51:47 UTC

- reply

i honestly did not remember that until you posted it the other day, it was 5 years ago
if you listen to the clip i clearly say he wouldnt tell me what the vulnerability was
supposedly it was a usb bug, which lines up since my guides were airgap

2026-08-11 14:25:45 UTC

- reply

there are 8 years of podcasts that people can take out of context
i did not know about the bug until that thursday everyone else found out, and as soon as i did i posted here and on twitter

2026-08-02 14:16:02 UTC

i thought coldcard was the best and holy shit i was completely wrong
have been trying my best to help people move for the last two days with no sleep, exhausted, broken, tragic
my comms are overwhelmed by people, trying to respond to everyone
if you are reading this and think your coldcard setup is fine because dice/passphrase/multisig, strongly consider moving anyway to reduce risk

2026-07-31 13:48:17 UTC

- reply

should be fine

2026-07-31 13:27:34 UTC

if you use a coldcard, move funds asap
dont hesistate, just do it
in the short term i see two options for people that dont already have other offline hardware, hot wallet or custodial, for hot the gold standard is sparrow wallet on desktop (sparrowwallet.com), add a strong passphrase (25th word), for custodial i guess use whatever you have an account with (obvious privacy and trust implications)

2026-07-31 02:06:00 UTC

- reply

in the mean time sparrow wallet + passphrase (25th word) should be good
https://sparrowwallet.com
i like trezor safe 7 as alternative hardware but 1) it takes a while to receive it and 2) all wallet code is probably being checked right now so hard to make a rec

- reply

sparrow wallet + passphrase (25th word) should be good

2026-07-31 01:32:29 UTC

- reply

should be fine but i would still move

2026-07-31 01:01:52 UTC

developing situation, but if you are currently using coldcard move your funds out of an abundance of caution
bugs have been found and exploited using ai
if you used dice rolls to generate your seed, you should be fine
if you use a passphrase, you should be fine
if you use multisig, you should be fine
would still move funds out of an abundance of caution
this sucks, coinkite team should release more info soon

the lie is saying i stole money when i made no money
nobody else was willing to take the risk to raise money so we did it
i dont think samourai expected to plea when they raised the money, we paid their lawyers as all donators expected us to do, not my job or responsibility to run their legal case or make key decisions over their lives

2026-07-19 10:25:35 UTC

- reply

these accusations are fucking wild

2026-07-14 01:36:03 UTC

- reply

i didnt promote taproot and publicly bet against it activating
i still think it worth keeping in the current situation, having some flexibility going forward is helpful when anything designed to make bitcoin more useful as money will be hard if not impossible to merge going forward

likewise bro
fam is thriving, thanks for asking

2026-07-13 19:25:00 UTC

- reply

bitcoin has effectively become ossified, as someone who cares about bitcoin as money, nerfing taproot while not actually stopping spam, seems counterproductive
if op return is really the most concerning aspect, which the social argument would suggest, it is surprising that bip110 was not limited to that, consensus would have been easier

fine by me
anyone can fork without permission

and it wasnt because there was no chain split
no need to debate shit, we will find out in a month

2026-07-09 13:04:41 UTC

- reply

bip148 had consensus, there was no chain split
consensus can only be directionally estimated prior to fork, which is what makes coordinating forks difficult if the goal is to avoid a chain split
after a fork it is obvious whether there was consensus
my expectation is bip110 is well short and there will be a chain split
i said as much higher in the thread
