I met Uyghur activist Rushan Abbas at the halls of the Oslo Freedom Forum last year. Humbled by her story — and her deep understanding of how dictators use financial repression — I wanted to help share it.

Every week I write HRF’s Financial Freedom Report so you can stay on top of the news affecting people’s financial freedom.
Here’s a sneak peak at what I wrote this week👇 if you find it valuable, consider subscribing here: http://financialfreedomreport.org https://image.nostr.build/1ff696fa0227702653b519e6a40c0504d11e0d540ddda4341682011acce55acd.png

With my new role at HRF, I look forward to exploring the various ways people living under authoritarian regimes are reclaiming their #financialfreedom with new technologies. That’s why I’m excited to announce the launch of our newsletter, the Financial Freedom Report. 📰
The Financial Freedom Report will arrive in your inbox each Thursday morning and will focus on:
- the role money and banking play in the civil liberties and human rights struggles of those living under authoritarian regimes
- highlight how new monetary inventions like #Bitcoin can help secure more personal freedom for people even in the darkest dictatorship
- showcase real use cases from around the world
- and feature new tools and applications that can protect our financial freedom.
To my understanding, this is the first newsletter to explore the intersection between #humanrights and #financialfreedom, which means you have an opportunity to be at the forefront of this conversation. 🔥
Highly encourage you to subscribe here: https://mailchi.mp/hrf.org/financial-freedom-newsletter

“The Human Rights Foundation — a group that says it exists to fight tyranny under authoritarian regimes — is launching a tracker that will allow the public to keep tabs on which governments are experimenting with CBDC’s. Its big takeaways so far: More than 62 percent of governments are going down the CBDC road, and autocracies are leading the charge, including China, Russia and Thailand.” — Politico

Today’s my first day at the Human Rights Foundation!
I’m most excited about unearthing and sharing the stories of people in search of sound money, freedom, and hope… (and finding it.)
As well as meeting the people fighting to ensure they all get financial freedom. From activists, human rights defenders, to bitcoiners, there’s no shortage of incredible people doing this brave work.
Can’t wait to learn more!

Watched “Killers of the Flower Moon.” What a tragic, true story.
In 1920, the Osage Nation (a Native American tribe in Oklahoma) became extremely wealthy after oil was found on their lands. They even became some of the wealthiest people in America.
But the laws at the time required white "guardians" to manage their money. And thus begins the unravelling of crimes against the Osage people.
If you have some time, recommend you watch it. https://image.nostr.build/dd9099c6be3f20a8b5313f5de7ab1e0593dedc092f02c6a03e8b5c5ae404a210.jpg

Friends, I'm excited to say that I'll be joining the Financial Freedom team at HRF!✨ (Human Rights Foundation).
As you know, for the last year I've been telling stories about marginalized communities in search of financial freedom via my newsletter, Notes From The Margin. With HRF, I'll have the opportunity to continue to tell these stories (and more), highlight Bitcoin’s power in liberating lives, and in transforming repressed societies… But also telling them truthfully, with their flaws and victories, because there is much to learn, to fix, and to build.
This has been a labour of love that will continue on, but now alongside the dream team that is @npub1trr…hdpu , @npub1cf3…ostr:npub1wlkfvm7dvnusz9fv44wuwucu0jp3lc3wqt36ax0lz33hukjga7wq6hqwhy , and Alex Li. I can only imagine what we will accomplish together at the intersection of #Bitcoin and #humanrights in the next year+! I'll keep you posted on key projects and events so please watch this space.
Feeling grateful, blessed, and humbled. Counting my blessings today. 🧡

I suspect I may have been shadow-banned on Twitter/X, so dear #nostriches, you get my stories on #bitcoin’s impact on humanity here ✍️
If I have not been shadow-banned, then I have been pushed to the edges of Twittersphere. Or Xsphere.
Basically talking to myself. Sad times.

Hyperinflation is cruel. The way it can penetrate the human being — from loss of financial wealth, to loss of health, and mental well-being — is unimaginable. It can cause depression, suicide, and the decline of culture and society. In so many ways, it’s a crime against humanity.
This is why we need sound money like #bitcoin. And why you should get at least some. To protect yourself, your culture, and society.
