Very interesting. Zcash-style shielded transfers directly on Bitcoin L1 without changing Bitcoin consensus is a fascinating idea. The peg-in/peg-out mechanism is the part I’m particularly curious about. If this can be made genuinely trustless and non-custodial, this could be a big deal for Bitcoin privacy. 👀

Interesting shift in today’s European media coverage of #Bitcoin.
#German mainstream outlets are covering the latest rally with a noticeably more positive or neutral tone: focus is on the recovery, institutional flows and the reasons behind the move — rather than the usual “speculative bubble” narrative.
In the #Netherlands , mainstream coverage appears much more limited.
Maybe the media narrative is changing as Bitcoin becomes increasingly institutionalized.

Exactly. The network isn’t the problem. The identity layer is.
If an intermediary knows who you are, how much you bought, when you bought it, where you sent it and which bank account funded it, a data breach can turn financial privacy into a detailed map of your Bitcoin activity.
Self custody doesn’t eliminate every risk, but it removes one very important one: having a single centralised intermediary holding the keys to both your Bitcoin and your identity.

Nope! It’s a Mitsubishi Starion. This is the ’80s wide body version. All versions came with turbocharged engines.
There was a 2.0 litre turbo, which was later also used as the basis for engines in the Lancer Evolution series, and a 2.5 litre turbo, mainly found in the wide body models.
They were also very well suited to engine upgrades and tuning. The 2.0 litre had that typical old school turbo character, quite a bit of turbo lag, but a hell of a kick when the boost came in.

Bitcoiners should pay very close attention to the Revolut data incident.
If the emerging evidence is correct, customers with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency activity appear to have been of particular interest. Sensitive information can include identity documents, IBANs, transaction histories and crypto related withdrawals.
Ask yourself what happens when your name, address, bank account and Bitcoin purchases are all held by the same centralised intermediary.
Who knows how much Bitcoin you own? Who knows when you bought it? Who knows where you withdrew it? Who can connect your real world identity to your on chain activity?
This is the reality and the extreme exposure risk of buying Bitcoin through Revolut or similar centralised exchanges.
Bitcoin itself is decentralised. Your identity and financial history at a centralised exchange are not.
How much information are you willing to hand over to a single company that can be pressured, deceived, breached or compromised?

Some cars are designed. Others are sculpted.
Standing in front of this Bugatti Mistral today, I couldn’t help but stop and stare.
Every curve, every line, every detail seems to have been drawn with one goal: to make a machine look impossibly beautiful.
And then you remember what’s hiding behind that elegant body… a 1,600 PS W16.
This isn’t just a car.
It’s the end of an era — turned into art. 🖤

🔥 TOYOTA 2000GT — CAN YOU SOLVE THIS? 🇯🇵
This beautiful machine appeared in the 1960s and helped change the way the world looked at Japanese sports cars.
Only 337 were officially produced. 😮
But here’s the question:
What was hiding under the bonnet? 👀
A) A 2.0-litre V6
B) A 2.0-litre straight-six DOHC
C) A 2.0-litre V8
D) A 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder
And there’s a twist…
Toyota didn’t develop the engine completely on its own.
Which legendary Japanese company was involved?
A) Honda
B) Nissan
C) Yamaha
D) Mazda
🧠 Two questions. Two answers.
How many can you get right without Googling? 😏

🚨 CAR QUIZ FOR THE SERIOUS CAR NERDS 🚨
I found this rather unusual Lamborghini at the Louwman Museum in The Hague.
It looks like a Diablo… but something is VERY wrong here. 👀
So the question is:
What exactly is this car, and what was it actually used for?
A) A one off Lamborghini race car
B) A prototype for a future Diablo
C) A secret engine test mule for another legendary supercar
D) A Lamborghini built specifically for a movie
Bonus points if you know what engine is hiding behind that rear cover.
I honestly doubt many people will get this one right.

4500, we are at 203 with 12 days remaining! Ouch!
In my opinion, this petition is premature. It is important to consider that Luxembourgers are generally cautious about adopting new innovations, and this is particularly true for disruptive technologies like Bitcoin. I believe that the petitioner(s) should have undertaken more extensive public relations efforts. For instance, they could have requested interviews with leading media channels, distributed flyers in city center areas including a Bitcoin information pavilion, and established a proper website. Additionally, repeated announcements on platforms such as X, Instagram, TikTok, and local media outlets would have been beneficial for achieving a successful outcome.

Providing free services to people in need can be effective for charitable initiatives and community projects, but it is not suitable in this context. There is a significant downside: such actions may embolden malicious actors to believe that repressive measures against our freedoms could be effective, potentially causing even greater harm to citizens and businesses. This appears to be the intended outcome, leading to an expansion of censorship and control. It is imperative to prevent dictators from exploiting such opportunities. Saifedean’s perspective on Bitcoin is particularly relevant here; Bitcoin remains an unbeatable solution in these scenarios. Furthermore, he encourages people to explore and understand Bitcoin, learning how to use it effectively as an alternative. This is where the true strength of #Bitcoin lies.

Bitcoin price drop: these are the possible reasons for the downturn:
On Wednesday night, Bitcoin’s price dropped by approximately 6% to nearly $58,000, breaking thus clearly below the $60,000 mark.
Volatility : Such fluctuations are common for BTC, as seen many times in the past.
Market Movement Reasons : The reasons for these movements are often hard to pinpoint, even for experts. This time, it seems to be a mix of:
Selling pressure from a Bitcoin whale
Liquidations in the futures market
Uncertainties regarding upcoming US economic data
Possible distribution of Mt.Gox coins
Mt.Gox Coins Distribution : BitGo might have started distributing Mt.Gox coins on Tuesday afternoon, as suggested by a transaction. Social media speculates this could have contributed to the BTC price drop.
Bitcoin Whale Selling Pressure : Around 23:15 CET on Tuesday, a transaction of 2,300 BTC worth over $136 million was sent to the Kraken exchange by a Bitcoin whale, who still holds over 18,140 BTC worth more than $1 billion.
Overleveraged Futures Market : Fear of further selling pressure led to a cascade of liquidations in the futures market. According to Coinglass, about 90,000 traders and nearly $320 million were liquidated in the last 24 hours, with long positions accounting for over $260 million.
US Economic Data : Upcoming US economic data and company quarterly reports, such as those from Nvidia and inflation data (PCE), could have caused further uncertainty among investors. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell announced a potential shift in monetary policy (rate cuts), but it remains dependent on upcoming economic data.
Current BTC Price : The BTC price has since recovered slightly and is trading just above $60,000.

I decided over a year ago to delete my X account and concentrate exclusively on Nostr. Nostr is excellent, ahead of its time, no doubt about it. X on the other hand is a heavily used platform/network that literally thrives on its huge user base (in terms of bots), so you'd think that single and low yielding accounts would offer a fair chance of reaching a larger audience, right? Well, I have to disappoint you, after 2 weeks of being back on X, I've realised that I have 128 followers so far, of which probably 90% are female bots/fake accounts. Not exactly an achievement to boast about. Disappointment = 100. My point is that Nostr beats Platform X on so many levels, but the most important of which is equality in reach. Here Nostr is unbeatable. Thanks to all the developers who make Nostr successful.

ᵗᑋᵃᐢᵏ ᵞᵒᵘ* @ Bitcoin Darjeeling for reminding us! I ultimately thought this quote might fit in here: ‘Here is a mantra, a short one, that I give you. You may imprint it on your hearts and let every breath of yours give expression to it. The mantra is: ‘Do or Die.’ We shall either free India or die in the attempt; we shall not live to see the perpetuation of our slavery.’ - Mahatma Gandhi 🇮🇳🧡🤍💚

I saw the devastating gold mining in Suriname, South America, with my own eyes and literally had tears in my eyes. The destruction of one of the most beautiful and unspoilt rainforests in the Amazon region through deforestation and groundwater contamination by mercury is a fact and can no be ignored.
The work is carried out in life-threatening conditions by workers who are paid a miserable wage. They live in poverty. These people do not work there for pleasure, but to feed their families. Inflation and the resulting high cost of living are among the causes of the problem. Bitcoin will fix it!

Gold mining creates holes as deep as a 10-storey building, not to mention the deforestation of the rainforest and the extreme water pollution caused by mercury. Undoubtedly tolerated by society and politicians in all countries of the world, for purely economic interests. On the other hand, the debunked narrative that Bitcoin is boiling the oceans continues to be propagated. Hypocrisy at its peak.

If one were to believe the words of Ms. Lagarde, the head of the ECB, or one of the leading parties in the German Bundestag, the CDU, then Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies would be responsible for the majority of criminal activities such as money laundering, etc. This was factually debunked in 2024, as only 0.34% of transactions on the crypto market were illegal!
These retards want to perpetuate the narrative at all costs that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are only used by criminals. In fact, even the leaders of Hamas have admitted that Bitcoin is completely unsuitable for money laundering, on the contrary, as all transactions on the blockchain can be verified by anyone at any time. The USD and EUR are still by far the most commonly used currencies for money laundering and other criminal activities. Do not be misled.

My #opinion on #Bitcoin : A Tool to Reduce Government DebtEl Salvador's adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender has proven its potential to reduce government debt. Bitcoin's decentralized and deflationary nature helps attract investment, boost tourism, and enhance financial inclusion, all contributing to economic stability.#US Senator Cummins' proposal to integrate Bitcoin into the US economy makes absolute sense. It could help reduce national #debt and strengthen the #USD . By diversifying #financial strategies and mitigating #inflation risks, Bitcoin offers a transparent and secure solution for fiscal responsibility.Bitcoin isn't just a digital currency; it's a powerful tool for economic transformation and debt reduction. El Salvador's success is just the beginning.
