BTW since computer things don't actively delete their memory unless asked to do so, I'm pretty sure all my stuff is still in there somewhere - a theory only strenghtened by my colleague telling me that Apple once told her that they could run recovery on an iPhone, if she would just kindly pay them nearly 1000€ regardless if they recovered anything or not...
If you look at it soberly, this is basically a ransomware attack carried out by Apple.

Uh, OK, so... iPhones sometimes commit suicide. Just, like, factory resets out of nowhere.
Work phone, so A. I could go to IT support, who can do nothing but shrug - they run well over 1000 iPhones & it just happens occasionally & B. I didn't pay for this piece of shit, otherwise I would be pretty fucking miffed right now.
Considering how often it nags me to buy more iCloud storage so I can do a backup, I feel fairly confident that Apple does this on purpose.
