🇸🇻 EL SALVADOR’S RECENT BITCOIN ACCUMULATION CAME FROM PRIVATE DONATIONS, IMF SAYS
The IMF says El Salvador’s Bitcoin accumulation since its first program review in June 2025 was funded entirely through private donations and did not involve public resources.
The government is not expected to accumulate additional Bitcoin going forward beyond documented donations.
The disclosure comes as IMF staff reached an agreement with El Salvador on its latest program reviews, which could unlock another $140 million in financing.
